One.
Beep beep beep bee-I grab my phone from the night stand and shut it off. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the time. 6:00am, it read. I contemplated on whether to get up or not but then I realised school was at 7:30, so I had no choice. I groaned as I open my curtains, the sun rays invading my eyes.
It was another day here at Prentistown. The sky was clear, the birds were chirping and I could smell my mom's pancakes from the kitchen. Everyone seemed to love it here in Prentistown. No one ever seemed to complain. It was like everything was...perfect. Don't get me wrong. I love it here also, I mean it's the place where I grew up. But I can't help but feel like everything is the same. Nothing seems out of place or...different. It feels like my life has already been planned out since the day I was born. But enough about that, I have school to attend to.

"Okay class, grab your partner and form a line." Ms. Carter announced. She's our English professor and a strict one of that. She made a girl re- write her whole 600 page essay because of one spelling mistake. You wouldn't want to get on her bad side.
We were heading for our trip to the Prentistown Museum. It was situated on a hill, overlooking the whole of Prentistown. The drive was a full five hours so the teachers planned for us to stay over night at the nearby hotel.
"I heard The End is near the museum", I heard someone whisper. It was then followed by a few more whispers, saying similar things. I looked at Catherine who was busy reading a book. I glanced at the cover, "Pride and Prejudice". That's probably her third time reading that book. I swear she's obsessed.
"Catherine, what's The End?". She lifts her head up from her book and thinks over my question.
"It's a line usually associated at the ending of a book-"
"No, not that type of The End. I meant that place people are talking about. They say it's near the Prentistown Museum we are going to. What is it?" I ask her. I have never heard of that place and I must say, I am intrigued by the mention of it.
I notice Catherine's features go...serious and she looks past me. Well Catherine is known for being the serious type but this seems different from her normal serious face. She then blinks and looks at me once again.
"Lucy, don't go there. It's a dangerous and dark place. Promise me you won't go there"
She looks sternly at me. What is she talking about?"But Catherine-"
"Promise me." She repeats. I sigh and decide to leave the topic.
"Okay mother" I tease her and she gives me a slight chuckle.
"Good" she replies before going back to her book.
The End. What on earth could that place be?
