A dark figure made a stealthy exit from what seemed to be a burning carriage. This carriage used to have two brown and white horses at the front, but they had ran off once their bindings were unhooked. Two others, humans, laid outside of the old vehicle, full suits of armor adorning their figures. Royal guards. The figure who had been making a getaway held a bow in their left hand, and reached for an arrow with their right.
"Wait!" One of the guards called out, getting to his knees. He attempted to stand, reaching for his long sword. "You're under arrest, by order of His Majes-,"
Thunk.
The shadow's quick movements allowed it to load up an arrow, shoot, and plunge the lethal weapon straight into the guards face-mask, into an opening slit for the eyes. The guard fell backwards, the back of its head falling onto the other ones chest, embedding whatever part of the arrow that had went through his skull into the guards chain mail tunic.
"I'm sorry, do you mind repeating that?" The shadowed figure asked, the audible amusement lining their voice. A green hood was removed to reveal a female archer, her face dirty due to the lack of housing, or from the small adventure she had just embarked on. Or both. Probably both.
"Robin!" A loud, gruff, male voice called. This was not a human, instead something that resembled a large orc. "Robin, where in this stupid forest are you?!" The voice called again, followed by the careless crash of trees.
Robin, the archer, turned, humming gently. "Tiny!" She called out with recognition. "How have you been, my friend?" She asked, casually trotting up to the easily eight or nine foot tall creature.
"You know I hate that name, and you also know that we haven't been apart nearly long enough to ask each other that question," Tiny spoke, but grinned with what seemed to be a friendly complexion. "What trouble have you gotten yourself into this time?" He asked, crouching next to Robin, two large hooked teeth peeking out from under his under lip, and over his upper. Each one easily reached his top lip, and the teeth could easily mark the creature as a carnivore. Tiny's hair seemed like a long braid, but the sides hadn't grown anything at all. Despite the sheer length of his hair, it didn't seem to effect him at all.
"Oh, just the usual," Robin said with a shrug, motioning to the two dead men, and the burning carriage. The look of recognition on Tiny's face spoke for him, and Robin took the initiative to speak before he could even open his mouth to start saying what was on his mind. "They attacked me first, this time! I promise!" She said, raising her hands next to her shoulders, in a sort of surrendering motion.
Tiny let out a loud snort. "You've promised that the last fourteen times," he said, playfully shoving Robin to the side. The 'playful shove' sent the archer onto the ground a few feet away, but she knew it was playful nonetheless.
Robin let out a laugh, standing and dusting any dirt or leaves that may have accumulated off of herself. "I know, but this time I am telling the truth," she said, hopping into a tree and leaning against its large oak trunk, sitting on a thick branch.
"And you've said that the past six times," Tiny pointed out, crossing his massive arms over his bare chest, a grin forming on his lips that showed his large, pointy teeth.
"Well, this will be the first time I say that I have proof!" Robin exclaimed, thrusting a single finger into the air and hopping out of the tree, nearly as quickly as she managed to get into it.
Tiny raised a brow, but followed the archer on her minuscule voyage to the still burning carriage. "Actually, you said that last time," he huffed out, standing over the two dead guards.
Robin waved Tiny's sentence off with a small grin, which soon turned invisible as she lifted what seemed to be a scarf over her mouth and nose to protect her lungs from the smoke, and her face from any curious people who may be around. "Look," she said, kneeling next to the back of the carriage, and pulling out a burnt paper.
