"Hello Charlie." They were the first words Charlie heard. He was laying on what seemed to be an operating table. There were lights hanging over him and peoples faces crowded above. Charlie felt very confused. He had no memories. He couldn't understand what was happening. Its like he was just suddenly there. Had he not been there before? He wondered. "whats...?...Whats." he couldn't finish the sentence, question? He didn't know what he was trying to say.
"It's okay Charlie"said a calming male voice. "your confused. I understand. You've only just been born." he finished. Just born?. Charlie continued to lay there. On his back, on the table. "just born" he said aloud.
The man who had spoken before spoke now. "Charlie don't you worry yourself now, all will be explained in good time. You just need to focus on getting comfortable with yourself. Here, amber will take you to your room."
"Oh...okay" Charlie felt unsure. Slowly he sat up and swung his legs over the side of the table. Looking down at his legs he felt like he didn't know himself. "come along" called amber, a tall skinny lady with messy brown hair and large goggle like glasses. Charlie slipped off the table and cautiously walked over to her. "come on, we don't have all day" she said in an impatient tone.
Amber led Charlie down a series of white hallways. They were like tunnels. After traveling through the maze they came to a stop at a white door. It was almost impossible to tell it apart from the walls. Amber slid the door open and shoved Charlie inside. "this is your room" she said before closing the door and leaving. Charlie didn't know what he was supposed to do. He looked around the room. It was empty except for a white bed and a lonely mirror. There weren't even any windows. What he noticed was that everything in this building seemed to be white. From floor to ceiling the colour scheme was white, clinical white.
Charlie walked over to the white wall that held onto the full length mirror. Upon looking into the mirror Charlie didn't recognise the young man who was staring back. He'd never seen him in his life. It would seem he had never seen himself. That was to be expected however since he had only just been born a couple of minutes ago.
The reflection which was apparently his reflected an extremely white skinned man with white hair that curled over his ears. The hair framed a soft angelic face that held piercing blue eyes. He was tall with slightly muscled arms. He looked about 18 which was weird since he had just been born. There was nothing wrong with his appearance but for some reason Charlie felt like there was something off, something almost inhuman.

"Hello, Charlie?" Called a man's voice.Charlie looked to the door. He was sitting quietly on his bed still trying to figure out why he felt so strange. "Charlie, there you are." Charlie found this a highly strange thing to say since there was no other place he could be. "Charlie I wanted to talk to you. I want to help you understand."
"Okay" was all Charlie said. "so the thing is, Charlie, you've just been asleep for a really long time." The man said straight faced. " it is difficult to understand but it is the truth so lets not dwell on the past. None of that matters now. You awake and thats whats important." With that the man got up and headed for the exit. "wait" called Charlie. "who are you?" the man turned back. "I'm professor Nate, I the one who has been studying you case and trying to understand you." He left. He left and he locked the door behind him.
Charlie was full of questions now. The biggest one was why was professor Nate lying to him. He just didn't feel like he was being told the complete truth. And if he were asleep why didn't he remember a time before it.

"CHARLIE!' Charlie woke with a fright. Professor Nate was standing over him. "Charlie you've over slept. Quick, get up and get dressed." Charlie wasn't aware that he was supposed to wake at a certain time. The feeling of something not being right grew stronger. Professor Nate left the room while jack got changed. The clothing which was provided happened to all be white. These people really have a fascination with white. Charlie thought to himself.

Science FictionA short little story I wrote about an artificially intelligent life form. This was more so for just a bit of fun because I wanted to just write a story with no pressure, and if its the worst story written, thats okay because at least I did it.
