I was glad to remember the soundproofing spell before breaking the news to Amber because her reaction was louder and more excited than mine. She shrieked and squealed and hugged me twice before realizing just how grave the situation was.
"Well do you know what you're going to do? About... it?" Amber asked.
I shook my head. "I just found out today, I decided I don't have to think about it right now." With that, I rubbed my eyes and plopped down on my bed, head hitting the pillow with a thud. "It's a lot to handle, you know."
"Oh yeah, especially with Draco and everything," Amber mentioned, making me groan.
"Don't remind me!"
Rebecca, who had been pretty quiet since we returned to our room, finally stepped forward and spoke up. "You've got to tell him, girl. Doesn't matter if he's not talking to you or you're not talking to him. It's his baby, too, so he should be able to put some input on the final decision that you make."
I nodded, groaning once more. I hated the fact that I was pregnant, that Draco was blocking me out, and the first real thing we would have said to each other in a month and a half would be me breaking the terrible news. It was a disgusting ordeal I would much rather skip. "I know, I'll have to tell him. He'll know eventually, anyway, whether I stay or not. It's probably best if he hears it from me."
Though I knew this whole ordeal was real, as I had realized more than once, it still felt like a dream. Being a mother was something I dreamed of becoming as an adult, in my late twenties or early thirties. Not now, sixteen years old. It was horrific and terrifying, though something in me was excited-- or a better word, hopeful.
...
I was finally called to Professor Dumbledore's office around nine the next morning, though he was not alone. Around his desk stood the majority of my teachers: Professor McGonagall, Snape, Sprout, Flitwick, along with a few others. They all turned to look at me as I entered, standing above me up the steps, making me feel as if I were an insect under the flashlight of disgusted humans.
"I believe you know why you're in here, Y/N," Dumbledore stated, motioning to a chair in front of his desk. I nodded, rushing up the steps, keeping my gaze on the stone floor. When I took a seat, I couldn't look up to meet my superior's eyes.
"And I trust you feel remorse for your actions that led to this?"
I nodded.
"Then we're offering you three options," he started, causing Professor Snape to scoff.
"Excuse me, Headmaster, but I believe we had decided on something else." Dumbledore shot Snape a look and he went quiet. Snape rolled his eyes and went back to staring at me along with the others.
Dumbledore cleared his throat, leaning forward. "As I was saying, we're going to give you three options. We will allow you to pack up and go back on the train today, further resigning your employment to the school, or allow you to continue your education here until the birth of your child."
"If you choose to keep it," McGonagall interjected.
"Leading us to your final choice, where one of your professors will escort you to St. Mungo's in London to terminate your pregnancy." The room was silent as I thought over what I had just been told. I had been hoping to eventually tell Draco first, see his views on it. But he had been so distant lately, I doubted he would listen. Even still, this was much too big of a decision to make on my own.
"Could I have a day or two to think over it?" I asked quietly, wincing at how scared my voice sounded. The professors nodded.
"Of course."
