Third Person POV
The fireplace in the Slytherin Common Room is alight. Students of all ages huddle around, blankets wrapped tight around their shoulders. Being beneath the lake during a freezing snowstorm was not ideal. Everyone had returned from their trip to Hogsmeade and were recovering from the cold.
"Really, Y/N, Draco, you could stay with us for Christmas," Blaise insisted, popping an Every Flavor Jelly Bean in his mouth. "My family seriously loves you both."
"Why don't we, babe?" Y/N smiled. "It could be fun!"
Draco had his nose in a textbook. "You go on ahead, I think I'll stay at Hogwarts during the holiday."
Y/N scoffed. "Seriously? Doing what?"
"Studying."
Blaise elbowed Draco in the side. "Lame! What about you, Y/N? Do you fancy staying at my house for the holidays?"
"I'll think about it..." Y/N opened her purse and pulled out a white envelope. "I think I might've already been invited somewhere though."
Draco shut his book swiftly. "Who's that from?"
"Katie Bell was cursed at Hogsmeade! Some student cursed her!" Amber exclaimed, butting in between Y/N and Draco. "She's being sent to St. Mungo's right now!"
The common room erupted into nervous chatter and Draco opened his book again. "That's quite unfortunate," he muttered.
Professor Snape came thundering into the common room, hushing the crowd. "All of you to your rooms, at once. Except you, Draco."
The students filtered out until it was just the two. "That necklace was meant for Dumbledore, do you know how much of a mistake you have made?"
Your POV
The dark mark embellished on the stark white parchment threw me into an existential spiral. As much as I, among others, had been denying the return of the Dark Lord and the return of the war, I knew that our hopes were futile somewhere deep down.
However, I did not think I would be privy to this information from the Dark Lord himself.
Ms. L/N,
I have keenly watched your wizardry training over the past months. You are a force to be reckoned with.
And I intend to lead a reckoning with you.
Besides, you have something of great use to me.

AUTHORS NOTE
Well! I guess I have some explaining to do! Two years since the last update... is anyone even out there? Not that ya'll would want to hear my sob story-- but I'm gonna tell you anyway.
That boyfriend of a year and a half? Abusive fuck. Got me pregnant. I lost it. He told everyone I faked it so that we'd get back together. Ruined my name to the point I couldn't show my face in public. Dropped out of public school! Finished my high school degree online and ran off halfway across the country to go to college in Florida. (I'm from Oklahoma.)
I lost my love for writing and the idea of writing about a pregnancy was hard. My new partner, God bless him, we've been together a year and he is helping me learn to love the things that make me 'me' again.
If no one is reading this anymore, I'll abandon the rest of this story. There is definitely still a story to tell, but maybe it's my own. If anyone reads this, please let me know.
I'm sorry for falling off of the face of the earth for literal years. I'm happy and thriving now and would love to keep storytelling if there is anyone to read it.
Much love,
cornbread
