The next day progresses like any other normal day would, with breakfast being oatmeal, again, chicken breast, and ice cream. This time, Haseul gave in to Hyejoo's demands for more ice cream.
They're trying to complete a jungle puzzle, pieces scattered all over the bed table. Then, there's a knock at the door.
"Son Hyejoo," Nurse Kahei calls again. "Surgery."
"Don't you mean treatment?" Hyejoo asks, annoyed that Kahei had interrupted her and Chaewon. She presses a puzzle piece into place, completing the head of a blue macaw parrot.
"No. Surgery."
"Good one, hah- you're kidding, right?"
"S-U-R-G-E-R-Y, you dense idiot!"
Hyejoo squirms in place as Chaewon assists Kahei in removing her wires and needles. The second she's freed, she wraps Kahei in a bone-crushing hug.
