she felt her heart ache looking at her sister crying. the tears that fell so easily dropped from her eldest sister's chin. dahyun didn't know what to do, she didn't know what to say, or how to react to this. everything she saw was so new to her it made her head spin with wonder.

park chaeyoung, rosé, the eldest of the five was breaking down. her heart sitting right beside her, trying to fight off his tears as well. everything around them was so melancholy and sad. their love for one another was overshadowed by the gloom of the day.

rosé would be getting married today, but she still hasn't accepted it, and neither has junhwe. ' i'm so sorry. you don't deserve this. you don't deserve this pain, junhwe. ' she softly cried into his chest, fingers clenched on his shirt. her mascara was ruined, her lipstick smeared, and her hair wasn't even done.

around the two lay their broken promises. the paintings rosé painted were torn off from the wall, her jewelry knocked all over the ground, and their clothing scattered around their shared room.

junhwe bit down on his tongue and looked at her. dahyun saw so much love, so much wonder, and adoration in those eyes. though, there was resentment hiding behind them.

' don't apologize. we knew this day was going to come, rosé. ' his voice was warm with comfort; that just made her sob even more, though.

dahyun tilted her head at the scene and felt herself tearing up. rosé had already found her loved one, her soulmate, the person that would be with her through thick and thin. a weighing feeling on her chest only increased.

junhwe was their childhood friend, a little older than rosé, but old enough to play house with them. old enough to promise rosé his future and more. old enough to kiss her older sister as if she was the only person to exist, and maybe she was, in their own world.

but everything was going to get shattered today. everything was going to be torn from them, especially junhwe.

' anyone but me would've been fine, junhwe. why me? why not yerim? ' dahyun could tell rosé was trying to look for the right words in the broken pieces that surrounded them. her fingers went up to play with his hair, and she sat in his lap, head on his shoulder.

however, her words didn't comfort her other sisters a lot. the aura in the room grew more tense and heavy with each minute that passed by. it was still so early in the morning, too.

' i'm sorry to break you two up, but we can't do . . this. anything but this. rosé, you have to get ready. junhwe, you are not to interfere. you both know this, don't you? ' the second eldest sister, doyeon, stepped into the room with the rest. her eyes scanned the scene, she frowned, but you could tell she was just as hurt as they were.

doyeon walked over to the couple and pulled her up from the ground, her voice cracking. ' be strong. '

everyone looked so broken. without thinking about it, dahyun offered her hand to junhwe, pulling up the big man from the ground. ' lets go, okay? '

doyeon and her other sisters stayed in the room, helping rosé get ready for her final day here.

dahyun looked back. there were so much memories built in this castle, the place they called "home." she looked up at junhwe and attempted her most friendly smile, intertwining her fingers with his. they always did this to comfort one another, so when junhwe smiled at her through his tears, it wasn't unexpected.

dahyun sighed out of relief and dragged him into her personal gardens. the lilies that crept along the stone walls were covering up most of the other flowers, but that was okay, really. her hand that wasn't holding junhwe's traced shapes into the roses in the grass. the sun was just rising, so the birds were singing their songs. it would've been beautiful if the day was another happy day, where their days were unlimited and promised. dahyun let go of his hand and went to go sit in the middle of the carnations, a small distraction for her not to break down.
