We waited.

2 backup police officers arrived, and an ambulance. Things I've never seen.

Am I going to jail? No way. What about momma? Papa? Tommy?

"Come on sweetheart," Officer Willow, who was one of the backups, said as she grabbed my shoulders. When I got in her car I looked through the window in fear. Nervousness. They took Tommy into an ambulance. I saw momma through the window.

The police ride was okay. Officer Willow kept asking me questions that I didn't even answer. She asked me what my name was. I answered, "Katherine. Call me Kat though." There was silence eventually.

It was when I arrived at the police station that I realized I still had my backpack. The Flower was still in my backpack.

I was sat in a chair, several officers worked around me. I was so confused, yet so happy. I was safe. I think.

I waited seveal minutes before another officer, much older, said, "Alright Katherine, tell us what is going on. Your mother is being charged with child endangerment, what can you tell us about your mother?"

I almost laughed at that question. If only they knew. I sighed and told them everything. Every little thing. How I ran away twice. I got punched, pushed, slapped, everything. Told them every detail. I felt so relieved.

The officer raised his eyebrows, not seeming shocked.

At this point I just wanted to sleep, forever.
