My house smelled nice. It was like a welcoming scent. Like vanilla. The outside of my house is the same, but the inside looked way different.

The torn curtains were changed for blue silk curtains. The small TV, was changed for a big plasma one. The dirty kitchen was now spotless. Everything looked...amazing. I wonder how my room looked like. Who did this? There's no way all this happened in just a few days.

"Please sit down officer." My mother gestured. She looked at Tommy and I, and she smiled. My mother actually smiled at me. Such a wonderful feeling. A weird feeling.

After words that I didn't understand from officer Willow, I shot up at her words, 'No more abuse'. It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulder. I smiled. My mother smiled. My father smiled. Tommy smiled. Everyone smiled.

Starting today, everything would change, for the better.

----

"Listen Tommy, go with your father to see your room, we changed it a bit and I think you're gonna like it! I need to talk to Katherine." My mom said. I looked at my father grabbing Tommy's hands and taking him to his room. What did my mom have to say to me? There was an awkward silence for a minute. All of a sudden my mother started to cry. I've never seen my mother cry. They were real tears.

"Oh Katherine, I'm sorry for everything, my mother began, "sorry for all the abuse and pain I caused you. I feel terrible. I'm so sorry please forgive me!" I was shocked. My mother said sorry. I just couldn't control my tears. My mother kept crying, and I interrupted her, "Momma it's okay." My mother looked at me. "No, its not okay, I hurt you...badly, I'm so so sorry." My mother palmed her face. "It's okay, as long as I'm happy...I'm okay." I went up to my mother and touched her shoulder. She looked at me. She smiled. And all of a sudden, she hugged me. I hugged back.

We talked for another few minutes, I felt like she was a stranger. She was.

Her hug was warm. Comforting. She had never hugged me before. "Yes, you will be happy. I promise." My mother continued. I was relieved. We let go of each other. We were wiping out tears away from our face. We smiled at each other. Is this even real life right now? "You want to see your room?" My mother told me. I nodded, "Yes, but is it okay if I go alone?"  My mother nodded. I walked to my room. I turned the knob. And went in. I was shocked.

It looked so different. The walls were painted purple. My bed was bigger. There was a cute desk on the corner. The window had pink curtains. The closet was painted with purple flowers. They looked like You. I laughed. I took You out of my pocked and set you inside the drawer of the newely put desk. It amazed me how perfect You still looked.

Momma, papa and Tommy came in. Nobody said anything. Just smiled.

"How do you like your room?" I asked Tommy. He started telling me about his Spiderman themed room, and I was for once happy in this house. Felt so weird.

"How did you do all this?" I asked my parents. "We know some people." They looked at each other smiling like kids.

"Kat," papa started, "I love you. I truly do. I know what I need to do to be the perfect dad for you, I'm sorry.''

I was tired of the apologies for some reason. I just wanted to begin this new life.

I reached into the drawer and pulled You out. "I'd like you all to meet my best friend." I smiled as I put You to their view.

Tommy gigled, laughed hard, "You are a flower girl."

Momma smiled, "Our flower girl."
