Lea

I listened as Chris recounted his night to me. He was so ecstatic, I could feel him gushing over the phone.
"So, I take it you had fun?"
"I HAD A GREAT TIME!", he yelled, so loud that I had to step away from the phone for several moments.
"That's great, do you think you're ever gonna see him again?"
There was silence. Finally, Chris sighed.
"No, he said he can't be tied down. Said it would ruin his image..."
I could feel my cheeks heating up at his words.
What a fucking jerk!
Nobody should take advantage of my hot and very much gay friend.
"Chris, what the actual fuck is wrong with you?! You let him use you! Just as a one night stand, you make me sick!"
Maybe, I shouldn't have been so harsh but, I had to.
Chris, was my friend and I wasn't gonna let that happen ever again...
For a moment, I thought he'd hung up, but there was no dull ringing to solidify that thought.
So, I waited.
Hoping he'd realize that I was right.
Needing him to...
Soft whimpers could be heard then, they stopped abruptly and he shouted at me.
"I don't need you to be my personal bodyguard, Lea! I'm twenty fucking two, not seven! Just stop, look I gotta go. Bye."
I stood there leaning against the wall and sobbed.
What had I done?
I'd just humiliated my best friend and maybe even lost him for good.
No, Chris would call me or he'd come over and apologize.
I told myself.
He couldn't stay mad at me?!
He wouldn't...
But, the next day when I got to work, he wasn't there. And, nobody seemed to care either way.
Five days later, his mom called. She sounded worried and frantic. Mrs. Colfer was a calm lady.
What if something had happened? What if he was...
No!
I yelled.
He couldn't be...not him.
All she did was sob into the phone and eventually I was sobbing too.
Ten days later, Darren called.
He sounded worried.
"Where's Chris?"
I didn't say anything, but when I started crying, he hung up.
Thirty days later, life was still going on.
I was miserable and at my last straw.
I'd yelled and mouthed off at work, yelled at Cory for being 'too neat' and almost jumped off the roof of my apartment.
But, someone stopped me and I woke up in the ICU.
Forty days later, a news reporter on TV claimed she had successfully found Chris' body.
I started sobbing.
Darren called and he was sobbing.
I couldn't watch anymore, the TV was blurred by my tears.
Fifty days later, I got a letter. It was written in fancy script. Chris' handwriting.
As I read the words, I couldn't believe it. Just couldn't.
Don't bother looking for me.
I'm nowhere in L.A.
I've gone somewhere where you'll never find me and can't ruin my life!
I hate you, Lea Michele! I fucking hate you!
-Chris
I collapsed and sobbed.
He was gone and he wasn't coming back..
Sixty days later, Darren proposed to his girlfriend Mia. Apparently, he was planning to marry her.
