The Last Alpha

Prologue

Junkyu POV

Cold. I hissed lightly as the freezing floor met my feet, my slippers long abandoned beneath my bed.

I spared a glance at the messy sheets with a frown and hugged myself for warmth. Of course, it was useless. Shivering, I forced myself to run inside the pack quarters. I am pretty sure that the usual morning risers had occupied the couch right now.

Without betraying my expectations, the usual gang is on their usual places lounging leisurely as if its not freezing. Well, they have the heater fully blasted. A breathe of relief escaped my lips as I felt heat enveloped my body. I have always been bad with cold.

"Good morning, hyung" greeted the youngest of the warriors Junghwan as he rubbed drowse of his eyes.

"Good morning too, Hwannie." I replied while smiling at the only cute member of this pack. I stared at the pack doctor and veteran warrior who was seated on the couch near the window reading his morning book solemnly. Yedam used to be cute too. Until, Jihoon taught him how to be sassy.

"You finally awake, Beta?" an annoying voice asked as the owner jumped to the vacant and reserve seat on the couch next to the head warrior, Yoonbin.

"Good morning too, Jihoon" I grimaced as I received a light nod from my childhood friend. I took the seat on the stool on the kitchen counter where the coffee machine was. The machine was still in the process of brewing coffee, probably Yedam's handiwork.

I leaned to the wooden counter and let the morning drowse befall me again. I wonder what Noa is doing right now.

I heard my wolf growl in dissatisfaction. Hyul, my inner wolf, had never approved of my relationship with Noa. He found the whole idea unpleasant. Me, his host, cheating with our future mate. But, I can't control what I am feeling. I love Noa.

"That is not love but a fascination" barked my wolf making me groan at the sudden activity inside my head.

"Noa is a human. We both know that" I mentally rebutted making the grumpy black wolf growl at me. I tried to reason, "You were the one that confirmed it"

"I did. But there are plenty of ways to mask a scent and besides you broke up already"

"And whose fault do you think it was?" I broke up with Noa for almost a week now. Its been exactly three days since I've last seen him. We parted at horrible ways. It was supposed to be a happy monthsary but Hyul had to react strongly as we are about to kiss. I ended up punching him in the face.

I was so afraid of what he would say so I did not look back and dashed out of the place. I then broke up with him via text. I did not receive any replies though.

"Kim Junkyu!" I sat up at the sudden loud voice screaming my name. I looked at the doorway and found our alpha, Byounggon hyung, staring at me.

"Yes?" I asked nervously. It is rare to have our alpha look so menacing and serious. My attention then shifted to our guest, the alpha of the pack on the north side of Seoul - Raesung. When he is here, nothing good happens to me. It would mean extra work.

"Your boyfie" Raesung smirked, eyes obviously teasing. "Noa, I believe his name was. Do you know where he is?"

"We broke up a week ago. I last saw him three days ago at the school then I don't know after that" I answered making both Alpha's frown. Byounggon hyung stared at Jihoon and ordered, "Track him down, Ji. We need him"

Jihoon stretched lightly making his bones cracked lightly before he stood up and exited the room. Yoonbin turned off the tv and stood from his seat, obviously displeased that his time with his mate was interrupted. Wolves are possessive creatures, even when its their alpha they dont want sharing.

"Sangre" Raesung chuckled as he watched the head of the warrior silently stare at him and nod his head. "Apologies for the disturbance in your pleasant morning"

"No need Alpha Raesung. Ji is just doing his job as the pack's tracker"

"Why are you searching for Noa anyways? Isn't he human?" I queried making our pack leader sigh.

"Apparently not. Jeongwoo, our pack doctor's, found his mate last week. A japanese wolf by the name of Haruto, a beta. A really strong beta"

"And?"

"And Haruto said that he saw their sangre a few days ago. In Jeongwoo's school, in your school" the alpha of the pack next door grinned as he continued, "So I showed him the pictures of students. And viola!"

"He found Noa?" I asked in shock. Hyul was trembling in joy. If what I was feeling was fascination rather than love then that only means one thing. I felt my self consciousness slipping as my inner wolf fought for control. Hyul had never wanted to be let out which is why I never learned how to counter his attacks.

My fangs grew sharper and my eyes glowed in blue, I watched from the eyes of Hyul how everyone reacted when they hear me growl, "My mate is near"
