"New Girl in Town" [BBS X reader]

1 || Fresh new start

Phew! Finally done..

My mom and I just finished unpacking and arranging our rooms. Now I can just relax on the couch..

It was currently raining outside, so i was forced to stay inside and listen to the pouring rain. I flop over to the couch sitting in the living room..my mom is preparing lunch right now, so I have about and hour - 45 minutes to sit down and scroll through my phone. So that is what I do, I just scroll through recent posts on Instagram. As I do this, I come across my best friend's post of her selfie. She has a dog filter on..no surprise there, as I see her dog on the floor next to her in the photo.

cute!, I think, I wanna do a picture like hers..though I don't have a dog.

I look out the window to see it has stopped raining..this gives me an idea!

I ran to look out the window and the sun was ready to come out, it seems. So I wait until after I eat my lunch (which is rice and eggs..sorry I'm Asian 😶) and go look out the window again.

I slid over to the table and sit next to Mom. I was about to shove a spoonful of rice until my mom said,

"Hey sweetie, I'm signing you up for a high school that is only 3 blocks away. Is it alright if you walk to school and back?"

"Of course!" I answer back. Usually, my mom picks me up/ drops me off, cause I can't afford my own car yet. And my mom is home usually before I go to school..but that might change since her work is now a little farther than usual.

My mom works at an office building, but it's for building and stuff. They work with PG&E a lot because y'know, construction stuff. My mom, on the other hand, does paper work other than the actual physical - action-y stuff. And, she's the only woman at her work! I know this, cause she always tells me about her day and facts about her job.

I really enjoy having this connection with Mom. She's a nice, hard-working mom! And I couldn't ask for more.

I finish my last bit of lunch, and clean my dirty bowl and spoon in the sink. After putting the dishes away, I quickly check outside..and a rainbow appeared through the side of our window! I hurry and switch to the rainbow filter on Insta, and take a selfie with the rainbow in the background. I put in the description, "nice pic @Dogluva , (best friend's user.) , but top this! 😱"

I snicker as I post it. I look back at the rainbow, although it seems to be slowly disappearing by the end of it. So I'm glad I took the selfie when I did.

It's been an hour, and now it's almost 3:00. I look back on Insta cause my phone has been blowing up since I posted my picture. As I look back, I see 63 likes..holy mother a pearl..

I usually get around 20-30 likes on my pictures..but holy cows 🐮

I see some comments saying "wow, I'm jealous! I wanna move to where you are too :c" , or, "nice photo! ❤️🌈" most of them are from my friends in my old school..sigh..I miss that place.
Then, I see my best friend's comment, "darn you..I could never top that! <3 😂" you gotta admit, she is kinda sweet sometimes. So I reply back, " 🥰😅".

Then I see one comment that caught my eye..and this person didn't even go to my old school. But judging by his profile pic, he might be around the same age as me. "Wow, I've never seen anyone with stunning looks like yours! I wanna see you in person 😖. Hope you have a nice day, beautiful!" .

I..have no words.

And , in all honesty, what I'm wearing isn't my choice of style. (You are wearing an orange cream crop top with a purple Nike jacket that hung around your shoulders and black leggings.)

I put my phone down and start to watch more tv. My room was at the end of the hall upstairs. I had a f/c bed with black (or if your favorite color is black, the secondary color can be different.) as the pillows and secondary color. I had a f/c fluffy carpet under my bed. And across my bed was a tv on my dresser, which is also black. I have posters of f/s (favorite singer..or band if you prefer. Or literally anything else.) my walls were white and I had a little window on the wall opposite of the door. And across my room was a bathroom, basically my bathroom cause my mom had a built-in bathroom in her bedroom.

"ugh!!!" I groan.

I turn off my alarm as I check the time.

6:30 A.M.

School starts at 8:00 so..I better hurry my ass up.

I go to my bathroom and brush my teeth, brush my hair, and finally get dressed. It's the same order everyday.

I look for an outfit that would look not too attractive, nerdy, showing, etc. So after what felt like forever (but in reality, 11 minutes) I find an outfit that might work out.

Don't freak out..sure, I might not know anybody at all in this new school, but hey, why can't I make new friends? That won't be so hard..right?...

Ugh..I'm overreacting. Soon I'll start to worry and care about how I look. I need to take a few breathes before I walk out..

I soon make my way downstairs and grab a granola bar and eat it quickly.

"Hunny, are you sure that's enough to fuel your body?" My mom calls from the living room, grabbing her keys.

"Yes mom...hey, you are leaving early from now on, right?" I say as I glance at her taking her keys and bag.

"Yes, I'm very sorry Y/n. I'll be leaving around 7:15 ish from now on." She replies.

Sigh..I'll miss seeing her face before I leave for school.

"Oh- and don't forget to eat the cereal I bought for you! Bye~!" Mom says before shutting the door. I wave to her through the window as she waves back while slowly driving off, then onto the road.

Well..I guess it's time to get going. I think as I grab my house keys and backpack. My backpack is just an ordinary backpack, and its f/c.

I walk out the door, closing and locking it before I start walking down a around 2 blocks. That's when I start to see the school down the street.

Wow..Mom was right. It is very close.
