Zev
I watched as the blind kid and the sassy girl were talking. I have no idea, but that angered me a little. I mean, I know the blind kid can't see what I look like or even what he himself looks like because he's blind. But if only he could see what he looks like--it is utter beauty. He has these striking green eyes and ginger hair that reached past his ears. His voice was very soft and he was a little shorter than his friend. Not that I'm complaining. "Hey Zev, dude!" Kade brought me back to reality. I had no idea that I was spacing out, I turned to face Kade."Yeah, man? What is it?" He looked like he was arguing with himself as if he had the angel and devil on each shoulder. "It's just that you were looking at Sadie and B.B, while they were walking out. I'm sure that your not having feeling for her right? Because you know how Nash is when people start liking who he likes."
That sent a shiver down my spine. Last year, there was this girl that Nash liked and he tried to ask her out, but soon found out that she liked the jock James. He was bigger and looked stronger than Nash, however Nash sent him to the hospital for a week. The girl never went out with him after what he did to her crush. Let's drop the subject. I just know that you don't want to mess with who he likes. "Nah dude. I don't want Nash to be sending me to the hospital along with James." I assured. I looked down onto my paper and tapped my pen against it while staring at the clock just wishing for the school day to end already, even if it just barely started.
The bell rang, signaling that it was break. Mrs Hill stood at the door way with work for everyone to get on their way out. Kade and I were one of the last to leave. Mrs Hill gives us a soft smile and hands us our paper copies and walks back into the classroom to her desk. I walk next to Kade, while I put my bag on my front and put my paper in my bag. I look around heading upstairs to Blaze, Nash and Asher. As we were walking up the stairs some people who were walking down the opposite way were quickly pushing their bodies against the wall as we went past them. They were apologizing frantically. Jeez, why can't they just keep quiet and not look at us if they don't give us a reason to want to beat them to the ground.
We kept going up the stairs until we reached the rooftop. One of the things that I like in this school is the scenery that the rooftop gives you. A lot of the students are talking and mingling with others. It makes me sick to see how happy they are. I sit down near the entrance back into the school and lean on the wall--digging into my bag for a pack of cigarettes. I take one out and light it up with the lighter, that I also had in there, before tossing it to Kade. The door slams open and almost hits me. I stand up swiftly and march my way to the door entrance.
"Yo what the fuck man, you could of hit me!"
"Oh. I'm so very sorry your highness. It will never happen again." I look up because I knew that sarcastic tone. It was Blaze. Behind him was Nash and Asher laughing away. Those two just love to push my buttons. I take the cigarette out of my mouth and puff the smoke into their faces. The only one the doesn't cough is Blaze, as expected he is unfazed by many things. Sometimes I worry about the guy. "Shut up man." I push Blaze a little as he laughs along with me.
I sit back down in the same place I was in while Kade tossed me back my pack of cigarettes. We spent the rest of the school day on the roof top, until I had to head back home which was the one thing I was looking forward to.
You see, I live with my sister and her husband, I was planning to stay with my mother and father but, there were some complications in the family and I didn't want to be apart of it all. So I packed up my stuff and left. Luckily my sister was nice enough to let me live with her. I do the cleaning for them as like a little job because I can't stand the place being so messy. Plus, I get some money out of me cleaning, so it's a win-win.
I fist-bump my bros when we leave the school gates and we make our own ways home. I preferably like to walk it home. It takes half an hour but I could used the exercise if I do nothing all day. Once I reached home, I took out my keys and unlocked the door. I stepped in and kicked off my shoes, I look at my phone and see it's 4:15.
They won't be home for a while, so I headed upstairs to my room. I opened my door and saw my room was spotless, which made me feel proud of myself in a way. My guitar was in the far corner of my room, untouched and hasn't moved since the last time I used it. I grab my guitar and sit down on my bed tuning it until it sounded right.
I must've been tuning it for a long while as I inhaled a delicious sent. It was my sister's thai green curry. I look at my phone again and see it is 6:00. I run downstairs and I'm greeted by My sister and Marcus--her husband.
"Evening Claire; Marcus." I politely greet.
"Oh sweetie, you know you don't have to act all formal with us."
"She's right, we're family you know." Marcus said putting his arm round me. I smiled a little at that comment because, he's not wrong. "Now, come sit down and eat you two, before the dinner gets cold."
