"I promise you, you'll really like her Jeremy." You told your best friend Jeremy as he sat down next to you. You were having a party and had agreed to set Jeremy up with another one of your friends. friends
"I'm really nervous." He admitted. "What if she doesn't like me?" You looked at him, slightly shocked and slapped his arm playfully. "Are you crazy? Anyone would be stupid not to like you."
"Likewise." He smiled, taking a sip of his drink as the two of you watched everyone else at the party as you waited for your friend to arrive. You couldn't deny that part of you was nervous too, not for Jeremy because you knew that he was going to be a proper gentleman but because there was part of you that was nervous that they may really connect. Of course you wanted Jeremy to be happy no matter what but a part of you had always loved Jeremy more than a friend but you had always had to push those feelings aside and pretend that they didn't exist.
You looked up to see that your friend that Jeremy was being set up with walked in. "There she is." You told him as you stood up in unison and pushed all of those feelings about Jeremy back to one side and went to introduce Jeremy to her. "(Y/n)." She said, pulling you into a hug.
"(Y/F/n)." You replied as you hugged her back. "(Y/F/n), this is my best friend Jeremy. Jeremy this is (Y/F/n)." They greeted one another before you left them to it. You couldn't focus on anything other than the two of them but you didn't want to look because you didn't want them to catch you and think that you were checking up on them. When you did glance over, you caught Jeremy looking at you. You smiled and he smiled back before turning to (Y/F/n) who was talking to him.
"Jeremy? Is everything okay?" She asked him as he turned back to look at her.
"Yeah, why?" He asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"Well, it's just that your eyes are wondering all over the room." Her eyes, followed where Jeremy's had gone and they landed on you as you stood across the room. "Jeremy, can I ask you something?"
"Sure." He replied.
"Do you love (Y/n)?"
Jeremy smiled. "Of course I do. She's my best friend." (Y/F/n) shook her head at Jeremy's reply. "No, I mean, are you in love with her?" Jeremy stopped and looked at (Y/F/n) before looking at you. He smiled again as he looked at you, this time you hadn't noticed him because you were talking to someone else. "It was nice to meet you Jeremy." (Y/F/n) told him as she placed her cup down. "You love her, so go and get her before it's too late." She smiled before walking away.
Jeremy took a deep breathe before walking over to (Y/n). "Hey (Y/n). Can I talk to you outside?" He asked. "Sure." You replied, following him outside. The air was cool and the sun was just beginning to set. "Is everything okay?" You asked. "Where's (Y/F/n)?"
"She left." He said, taking a sip of his drink.
"Did you not like her?"
He shook his head. "No, she was lovely but being with her made me realise what I really want." He took a deep breathe. "Mainly because she pointed it out." He said, taking a step closer to you. He looked into your eyes and smiled. "It's you that I want (Y/n)." He admitted. These words made your heart flutter inside your chest. "I know that you're my best friend but I love you and I think I always have but I've never admitted it before now." He was beginning to ramble with nerves.
"Jeremy..." You said in a slight whisper as his arms wrapped around your waist. You leaned in and kissed him. The kiss lasted for a few moments before the two of you pulled back and smiled at one another.
"I think that we should give this a go." Jeremy suggested.
"So do I." You replied before you wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him again.
