Flowers ♡ Tododeku (part 2)

3rd person POV

Midoriya was always trying to make people's lives better, even if it made his life worse. Right now, that was the case.

All he wanted to do was to save Todoroki, to tell him that he didn't have to be controlled by his father, but he ended up clutching a red and white rose petal with a shaky hand.

He felt nauseous. All he could do was stare at the flower that would've been beautiful if not for the blood stains covering it. 

When the petal came up, he was instantly reminded of the Hanahaki disease. Obviously, Todoroki would never like him back, so his only other choices were getting the surgery or dying.

"I don't want to lose my feelings for Todoroki-kun, so surgery is also out of the question. I guess my only logical choice is to... die? But I don't want to die! I guess I'll just have to-"

Midoriya was interrupted from his muttering storm by his mom saying, "Izuku dear, you're going to be late for school if you don't get ready soon!"

"Sorry Mom, I'll be downstairs in a bit!"

—15 minutes later—

Midoriya slumped his head on his desk as he tried to choke back the flowers in his throat. He wished it would all just stop. He wished there was a different way to get rid of the Hanahaki disease besides getting surgery or dying.

Little did he know, Todoroki was having the same problem.

The petals had turned into full green flowers. It was getting harder and harder to breathe. Finally, when he couldn't take it any longer, he raised his hand to go to the bathroom.

"Aizawa-sensei?"

"Didn't I say not to wake me up?"

"I just... need to go to the bathroom."

"Whatever, just let me go back to sleep."

Todoroki rushed to the bathroom and choked up more flowers. Normally, he  would've stopped to admire them, but given the circumstances, he didn't want anything to do with them.

A few moments of silence passed and Midoriya barged through the door.

The sight that Midoriya had seen was awful. There were green flowers everywhere, and Todoroki was barely breathing and currently hunched over the bathroom sink.

"T-Todoroki-kun?"

Todoroki's eyes went wide.

"Todoroki-kun, you have Hana-"

A red and white flower flew out of Midoriya's mouth.

The look on Midoriya's face told him that he wasn't supposed to see that.

"Midoriya... do you have Hanahaki?"

A long pause.

"...Yeah."

An even longer pause.

"Midoriya... I need to get this off my chest. Ever since you told me that it was my power I've seen you in a new light, and I've started to admire you. That feeling grew over time and eventually... well... I got the Hanahaki disease. For you."

"But... everyone says that you like Yaoyorozu and that you two are going to start dating-"

"Izuku."

"Did.. did you just call me by my first name?"

"What I'm trying to say is,"

There was a long pause.

"I love you, Izuku. And I know if I didn't tell you now that I would probably never get the chance to tell you again."

Midoriya couldn't believe his ears. He was convinced Todoroki was straight, and so him telling Midoriya that he was in love with him was very suprising.

"Shouto.. I love you too."

All of the sudden, Todoroki could breathe again. He didn't feel any flowers in his lungs.

"S-so, Shouto, will you, um, be my b-boyfriend?"

Todoroku smiled in a way that made Midoriya's heart melt. It wasn't forced or fake, but a real, genuine smile that could cure cancer and feed Africa.

"If course I will."

Todoroki put his hand on top of Midoriya's.

"We should get back to class."

"Wait, Shouto, I want to do one thing."

"What is it?"

Midoriya pressed a light, feathery kiss to Todoroki's lips and Todoroki swore he was in heaven.

This was all he could ever dream of, and more.
