Prologue: The first meeting

Izuku ran out of the hospital and ran to the forest as thick wet tears replacing the dry ones. He ran until he found a small clearing with a pond on the side. He let his back hit the trunk of the tree then sliding down with his hands wiping his tears. Little did he know that small boy wearing a blue shirt and grey pants was watching him.

"H-hello are you okay?" Izuku's head snapped up almost instantly upon hearing the voice of the young male. "I saw you were crying and wanted to see if you were ok" Izuku inspected the boy and saw that he had a white kitsune mask with red, black, and gold markings.

"U-uhm i'm Izuku Midoriya...." Izuku said wiping his tears away. "I'm..Todoroki" The boy said quiet enough not to be heard, as he averted his eyes from Izuku.

"Just call me Kizu" The boy said a little bit louder to be heard by Izuku. offering a hand to the green haired boy. Midoriya gladly accepted the help, pulling himself up and wiping his tears. "So, what brings you here Midoriya?" Todoroki said hoping to start a conversation. "O-oh well i uh was said i have no quirk" Izuku said looking down. "That's ok" Todoroki said moving over to sit at a log. "R-really?" Izuku said surprised. "Yeah cause that means i can be your hero!" Todoroki said while pointing to himself.

Midoriya felt warm inside, knowing that even without a quirk, he'd be safe. "So Kizu, i know we just met but. Wanna be friends?" Midoriya said out of pure happiness. Todoroki smiled behind his mask and nodded quickly.

"What brings you here Kizu?" Midoriya
asked after sitting next to Todoroki. "Oh well i'm running away from home." Todoroki said. "Why?" Izuku said slightly tilting his head. "Well i don't want to get hurt by my dad..." Todoroki said looking down. "Your dad?" Izuku said questioning as to why and how does he get hurt by his dad. "Well, he forces me to use my quirk during training and i hate it." Todoroki said before pausing.

The two boys talked and shared experiences until sundown. "Oh it's sunset" Izuku noticed and pointed to where the sun was. "Oh no i have to get home!" Todoroki said panicking.

"Oh well i'll see you tommorow then" Izuku said slightly dissapointed. "See you tommorow then!" Todoroki said before running deep in the forest. Thier mothers were both worried sick but the two still met up everyday.

Years past with Todoroki and Midoriya meeting up at the clearing, however the two boys were no longer 5 and 6 but 7 and 8.

"Hey Kizu?" Izuku asked facing the boy next to him. "Yes?" Todoroki asked, his mask muffling his voice slightly. "Do you ever wonder what happens when your soulmate is of the same gender?" Izuku asked. "Yeah, sometimes, but my dad said i should have a girl as my soulmate." Todoroki retorted. "Well what if it's not?" Izuku asked again curious as to what Todoroki would reply with. "Well i'd love them for starters, i would treat them with care no matter what." Todoroki said closing his eyes behind the mask and smiling softly. "I think that's a good answer" Izuku said as he clicked the all might pen which can record sounds.

Todoroki peered to his side when he heard the pen click. "Wait, you were recording me?" Todoroki asked, recognizing the pen that Izuku held in his hands. "Oh, nope i just.... Clicked the pen." Izuku nervously smiled, scratching his ear a little. "Yeah right, I have the same pen you know." Todoroki said unamused, while he moved closer to sit next to Izuku.

"Oh well you caught me, at least i have your voice right?" Izuku said in a hushed voice as he leaned onto Todoroki's shoulder.

"This may be weird but it feels like we are soulmates." Izuku said as he nuzzled into Todoroki's neck. "Yeah, yeah me too." Todoroki said as he laid his head on top of Izuku's. Todoroki softly smiled before he realized that both of thier lockets were glowing. "Oh hey, seems like our animals want in on the action" Todoroki joked. "Oh yeah!" Izuku said as the both hurried to open thier lockets. 

The next day came, and it was quiet.

"Hey Izuku" Todoroki said. "Yes?" Izuku said before looking up. "Wanna dance?" Todoroki said as he got up. "Why?" Izuku felt his face heat up. "Well i'm attending a masquerade party and heard i have to dance with a kid my age" Todoroki said before shrugging. "Oh, so you want me to teach you?" Izuku asked. "Yep" Todoroki said before extending his hand to Izuku.

Izuku smiled before taking Todoroki's hand and teaching him how to dance. Once Todoroki got the hang of it the two boys started to dance in sync. Each step almost as if they were painting the ground and feeling as if no fears could catch them. Not Endeavor, not Kacchan. They are the only ones there and no one can stop them.

Izuku let out a small laugh as he and Todoroki follow each others footsteps. By the end of the dance Izuku did a move only he and Todoroki knew. "Pff what was that?" Todoroki asked as he chuckled. "It's my special move!" Izuku said as he smiled brightly.

All was well, but as every story goes...

"I'm sorry Izuku" Todoroki said looking down. "What are you talking about?" Izuku asked turning around. "You're not safe here." Todoroki said, tears threatening to spill out. "What?" Izuku said while his voice became concerned. "Everything will be fine, I'll come back" Todoroki said lifting his head up. "I'm confused Kizu, is there something you're not telling me?" Izuku said stepping closer and holding Todoroki's hands and pulling it up in between thier chests.

"Hey i know you are confused but i have answers" Todoroki said as he reached in his pocket and dug out a letter with it's edges burnt a little, a bracelet labeled 'Kizu', and a sakura. Todoroki took a deep breath before saying "I'm leaving."

Izuku found it hard to breath, he was confused, then he was scared, then realization hit him. Izuku teared up and it was not long before tears were streaming down his eyes. "N-no, no! You can't leave" Izuku pleaded gripping Todoroki's hands tighter. It hurt Todoroki just to see Izuku like this, but he knew it was for the better. "It's for your own good Izuku." Todoroki said lifting Izuku's face after his uncontrolable crying lowered down into soft sobs. "Hey, it's okay, i have all the answers you need in here, i will come back, but you need to promise me something." Izuku leaned into Todoroki's hand while regulating his breathing and nodding slightly.

"You come here everyday and I'll be back" Todoroki said before handing Izuku a flower, and a letter. "I will come back i promise" Todoroki said. "I will wait till' you come back Kizu" Izuku smiled sadly. Todoroki hugged Izuku before walking a few steps away from him then turning around. Todoroki moved his mask only to reveal his right side. "I will come back my Tanuki" Todoroki said. He then repositioned his mask back to cover his face. "Be safe my Kitsune" Izuku said as he sadly walked back to his tree.
