By the time Mina's alarm went off in the morning there were many thoughts running though her head.

Though her thoughts were scattered everywhere she groaned as she remembered the conversation she had had with. Was right, already regretting it.

Besides regretting the little arrangement with Ally, the most prominent thought was why her room was so hot. Sure September weather was expected to be like August’s, but felt like a hot day on steroids.

September. Mina groaned only Ally would throw a lake party the day before school.

Flustered with everything, Mina flipped onto her stomach and buried her face into her lavender smelling pillow. She was glad that her bed sheets had just gone through the wash; the lavender smell was soothing and helped calm her frantic nerves and aching head.

She managed to daze before a faint knock at her door brought her back to reality. Still half asleep, Mina could only formulate a grunt to tell whoever was at the door that they could enter.

Mrs. Hayes laughed at her daughter while she pushed the door open. "Morning sweethe -," she stared in a singing voice but was cut off at the sudden heat of wall, “Boy, it's warm in here." Mrs. Hayes finished as she tried to fan the warm air out of her face and made her way over to the window.

Mina limply moved her arm to acknowledge her mother, and that's when Mrs. Hayes realized that Mina had her face buried into a pillow.

Letting out a motherly laugh, Mrs. Hayes said, "Mina, you know how I feel about you face planting a pillow."

Mina replied with another grunt while letting her legs kick randomly fluffing her duvet up.

"Mina," her mother said in a warning tone.

It was at this tone that Mina flipped over onto her backside for a brief moment before groaning and sitting up. She didn't even have a few seconds to brace herself before her mother tore open the curtains letting a bright stream of sunlight into Mina's neatly organized room.

"Happy?" Mina questioned her mother while shielding her eyes from the blinding light with her hands.

"Extremely," Mrs. Hayes said with a warm smile before opening the window a sliver to allow the cool autumn air into Mina's room.

Mina sighed in relief as the breeze hit her skin. She could feel goosebumps form from the sudden change in temperature but she welcomed them with open arms. They not only woke her up but also made her focus on something other than the lake party.

"Now sweetie, better hurry downstairs before your father eats all the blueberry pancakes I made, we both know how he is with your favourite food."

With a small yawn Mina said, "I'll be down soon."

"Alright sweetie." Was all Mrs. Hayes said before she left the room.

With her mother out of sight, Mina slumped back into her pillow and just stayed there for a brief moment. With her favourite breakfast on the line and Mina peeled the layers of warmth off herself and swung her feet off the bed allowing them to sink into the fuzzy rug on the floor.
