I roamed around the streets looking for any clues telling me where I could be. I was terrified. I had no way of contacting my mom (I was to young for a phone my mom had thought) and I had no idea where I was. Finding a nearby store I walked in, going up to the man at the cash register. Once in front of him I asked, "Can I borrow your phone?"
"Do I look stupid to you?" the man responded. "I've had enough of you kids and your pranks, though you are younger than they are normally, kids these days."
"What are you talking about" I asked confused.
He gave me a look "we don't have phones here we haven't for the past 50 years. What year do you think we are in? The early 2000's."
"What year is it" I asked not understanding what he was talking about.
"Are you stupid?" he asked "it's 2124, now get out I've had enough of your annoying questions."
But I didn't move. I was in shock. 2124 I thought but I was just in 2016. Looking down I noticed the device I had used only seconds before was in crumbles in my hand, as it stood I had no way back.
I roamed the streets that night lost and unsure what to do. Where should I go? What should I do? I spent days out there in the streets until I was found and put in an orphanage. From that day on, I waited to get adopted. Then I was, the family that took me in was kind, understanding, and amazing. They knew something was different about me but they never asked questions, and didn't shy away from me as well. But the longer I was there the longer I missed my mom, until one day I decided to find out what had happened to her.
