I was born in 2006 but live in 2143. How? Easy, I'm a traveler or the more common term a time traveler. How is that possible? Easy again. He invented it.
Anyways, I grew up with a normal childhood or at least a normalish childhood from 2006 to 2016, I was only ten when I learned the truth. My dad had always been caring and important to me, I loved him, along with my mom we were a happy family. Then everything changed. But we're not talking about that now you want to learn about me right, so that's go all the way back.
I was born 18.7 inches and weighed 8.30 pounds. My parents told me when they looked into my eyes and had instantly fallen in love (I had gotten most of my looks from my mom but looked the most like my dad). I grew up an only child but was surrounded by my parents, grandparent, aunts, uncles and many cousins so I never felt alone. I never wanted a sibling, I knew if I had one I would be spoiled less and my parents would have their hands more full so I was totally okay with only me. As I got older and older my dad was around less and less I thought nothing of it for a long time, until that fateful day...
I was walking home from school and had just gotten to the front door, I grabbed my key to let myself in. Both their cars were in the garage so I knew they were both home. "Mom, Dad" I called "where are you?" "I'm home."
I heard my mom call "where up here honey". I ran up stairs to see my parents near each other, they looked or at least Mom looked furious. I could feel the tense atmosphere thick around us. My mom turned her attention to me "how was school today?" She asked starting to relax.
"Good" I replied.
"That's great honey do you have any homework."
"Yeah."
"Why don't you get started with your homework while me and your father talk."
"Ok" I responded leaving the room, but I didn't go do my homework instead I hid in the shadows, I was interested and wanted to know what they were talking about. The minute I was "gone" however my mom struck my dad with the back of her hand, hard.
"What is wrong with you." My mom screamed yet her voice was low. Probably trying not to worry me.
"I'm just doing what I think is right" Dad replied.
"No you're tearing us apart that's what you're doing." "Do you want to know what will happen to our daughter if she ever finds out, she'll be crushed and it will be your fault. How could you chose this over your family."
"I didn't I'm doing what I do for you."
"No your a selfish man, get out I can't see you right now."
"I'll call you later once you calm down" Dad responded. I heard footsteps approaching and ran downstairs grabbing my homework in the process, I did not want my parents to know I was eavesdropping. Dad came down holding a bag full of his stuff.
"Where are you going?" I asked pretending that I had no knowledge of what happened. "Don't act all innocent missy" dad replied "I know you overheard. I'm just leaving for a few days so your mom can cool down I will be back soon." With that he kissed my forehead and left. I heard the car pull out of the driveway. After the car was gone mom came down. She approached me looking a lot calmer.
"Has your father left already" she said.
"Yeah." She then attempted to tell me that nothing was wrong. I knew however what had happened. "It's okay mom dad said he was going to see a friend," I lied she believed me and released the big breath she was holding.
"Well" mom responded "that's good." changing the subject she added "do you need any help with homework?"
"No."
"Okay let me know if you do." She got up and kissed my forehead "I love you." With that she left the room. I finally allowed myself to relax. I was confused. What had mom and dad been talking about. What was dad doing? The only thing I knew for sure was I was going to figure it out.
