"My powers aren't something I can explain quickly, so you'll have to do with this." I stated, creating a disc screen, and projecting my computer vision onto it.
"I have computer vision, and I can create... Whatever you'd like to call this." I gestured to the disc screen, which had solid Azurium edges, but the screen itself looked like blue tinted glass.
I made several more examples, a simple shield, my iPad (Should I call it a Bluebell iPad? That might be cool), and I showed them my taser-like electrokinesis.
Most of them thought it was cool, but Melissa and Luke were rather doubtful, "What use does that have in fighting?"
I shrugged, and let the screen disappear.
Honesty, I hadn't really thought about that.
Fighting wasn't my skill, no matter how much I tried. I wanted to be part of the team to help, and they seemed to have enough firepower.
"If you can't fight, what use are you to the Silver Guard?" Luke rolled his eyes.
"We need more than firepower Lukas." Jade helpfully commented, and her twin nodded.
Luke groaned, "My name's Luke, and you should call me Green Beam."
Jade and Jayden shrugged, and Natalie spoke up, "I think it will at least help us in the strategy department. We're lacking a little on that front..."
"We are not lacking anything in the strategy department." Melissa fumed, "We're doing well because I'm leading it."
I rolled my eyes while Melissa wasn't looking, and my mind drifted away from the conversation in front of me.
I hacked into some security cameras near the sea cliffs so I could see what the situation was in the East.
I checked about five cameras before I saw anything out of the ordinary, but the 6th one showed only a black screen.
I checked some maps to get a reference of its location, before checking in on several other cameras in the area.
Two more were blacked out, and the last one showed me that the supervillain had reached the city.
I quickly threw up a screen, displaying the security camera's live feed, "Guys look. We need to move fast."
The entire Silver Guard turned to me, and Natalie smiled, "See, useful. Now come on, we have to go before anything bad happens to the city."
Jayden grabbed his sister's hand, and Jade teleported them to stand next to Natalie. Matthew and Josh were quick to join them. Luke was hesitant, but went along.
Everyone except Natalie and Melissa went down the stairs.
Melissa rolled her eyes, but went downstairs anyway.
Natalie smiled at me, "I'm glad you're here. I think we really need more people like you on the team. Now come on, we need to go defeat this villain."
I shook my head, "No, I think I'll stay here. As Luke pointed out, my abilities won't help in a fight. I'll see you again next time."
Natalie bit her lip, and nodded, "See you next time then."
She followed the rest down the stairs, and they went to fight the super villain.
I sighed.
There was little I could do to help them at this point. They didn't trust me yet, though I didn't expect them to.
I went outside, and looked around.
The cliffs weren't too far off, so I went there.
I concentrated hard for a moment, and then picked up the iPad I had just created. I scrolled through the news website, and found live footage of the battle.
I watched for a while, but their predictable fighting patterns got boring after a while.
Most villains were too dense to notice the face that the heroes constantly repeat their moves. There's a pattern they've got stuck in their head. My guess is, it worked once, now Melissa is convinced it'll work every time. She hasn't been wrong so far, but I know they won't be able to keep this up.
Maybe I can help them change that next time.
I programmed an alert system, which was linked to all the security cameras on the outskirts of the city, that would tell me about anything out of the ordinary.
I felt better after spent some time to myself.
I conjured up a hoverboard, letting my iPad disappear. I raced through the edges of the forest, where it wasn't so dense yet.
The deep forest was dangerous.
I returned to school, no-one had even noticed that I was gone, they were all watching the news like it was their favourite movie.
This was part of most assemblies, watching the news to catch up on our heroes.
Our school, Argent Garde University, was one of the two colleges that most students in the city went to, the other was Rochelle Adaptive College, cheaper, but more popular.
Natalie went to Rochelle, along with a few of the other heroes. Melissa and I were here, as well as Luke. Josh and Matthew went to Rochelle. and the twins were homeschooled.
I was homeschooled before my father...
My mother couldn't take care of everything alone, so I told her I would go to Uni, and pay for it myself, so she could focus on her job. She was happy to hear that.
I'm still mostly self taught, and a few months ahead of the class, but I don't care, I just keep learning. It keeps my mind away from all the... not so great things in my life.
I sat down in my chair, and watched the battle without much interest. Another week, another villain. They don't often attack during school times, which makes it easier for the heroes to slip away unnoticed.
The battle was soon over, and the assembly hall slowly emptied, as the flood of students went to their classrooms.
Most of the work in this school was done digitally, which is one of the reasons it's so much more expensive than Rochelle.
It also gives me a huge advantage...
