Sorry I Stole Your Girlfriend by Stereo Skyline
Yeah, I'm Not Sorry
"What the hell is the matter with you?" I glanced up from the book I was reading to see a very pissed off friend of mine standing in my doorway waving his cellphone in the air frantically.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, the boredom was evident in my voice as I closed my book to give him my full attention. Dylan stomped over to me and shoved his phone in my face. I took it from him and moved it away a bit to see what I was supposed to be looking at.
"I'll bite, what am I supposed to be seeing?" I asked.
"Read the text from Casey, my ex girlfriend." Dylan put great emphasis into the word ex and I couldn't help but snicker.
"So she finally told you?" I asked as I handed him back his phone. Dylan narrowed his eyes and I saw his fist clench.
"That she dumped me to date you? Yes. Now back to my first question, what the hell is the matter with you?" Dylan demanded.
I shrugged. I couldn't exactly be sure how it happened. It was a few weeks ago and I think Dylan was off at football practice or something (I never kept track what the guy did in his free time, I didn't care) and Casey ended up calling me crying because her dog died. Me being the nice and caring guy I was, I talked to her about it and let her tell me all of these stories she had with it.
After we were done talking, she made a comment that I'[d make a better boyfriend for her than Dylan and I laughed. She then asked me if I'd date her if she broke up with Dylan. I wasn't going to lie, I said yes. She was cute, sue me.
We've been texting a lot ever since and I always asked her when she was going to tell Dylan because there was no way in hell I was going to tell him. Already some of her friends thought we were together, not that they minded. I was a very well-liked person compared to Dylan.
"Would it help if I said I was sorry?" I asked with a smirk. Dylan narrowed his eyes.
"Why would that help? What kind of person dates their best friend's girlfriend while they are still together?" Dylan asked.
"First off, we weren't dating while you two were. That's stupid. And second, this coming from the guy who cheated on one of my sisters with the other." I countered. Dylan opened his mouth and then closed it because he knew I had a point.
"You're an asshole," Dylan ended up saying. I snorted.
"Well, I'm sorry I stole your girlfriend." I said.
Dylan didn't say anything as he sat on the edge of my bed with his arms crossed. He stared at me and honestly, i was surprised he hadn't punched me in the face yet. When I found out what happened between my sisters and him, I was pissed and I hit him. Several times.
"She'll be back, you know." Dylan said. I scoffed.
"Maybe, but I'll be honest. We may have only just been talking, but I think I love her. She might be the one. She feels the same." I was playing with him, but maybe I went a little too far.
Dylan lunged at me, knocking me off the bean bag chair I was sitting on and slammed his fist into my nose. I heard the crunch of the bone before I actually felt it. Blood dripped down into my mouth and I ended up spitting the metallic taste out on my carpet.
Dylan shoved me away before standing up and wiping his hand on his jeans. I sat up and looked at him, holding my hand to my nose to slow down the blood flow.
"Feel better?" I asked.
"You aren't sorry at all." Dylan snapped angrily.
"Of course not. I was being nice, trying to make you feel better. Yeah, I feel bad that she didn't tell you sooner, but other than that, I feel no guilt." I said honestly. I removed my hand a little from my face and gently touched my nose. I don't think it was broken, but I'll probably get it checked out later.
"You're a son of a bitch." He said.
"That's my mother you're talking about." I grinned at him and he gave me a heated look. He shook his head at me before walking out of my bedroom.
My smile fell and instantly a wave of guilt washed over me. I felt bad, I did despite what I had told him. It's not like I meant for this to happen. He was my best friend, but it seemed like Casey and I had a lot more in common than her and Dylan. She was a great person and I was happy she liked me so much. I may have lost my best friend, but that was a casualty I was okay with having if it got me together with someone I could marry one day. So yeah, I'm not sorry.
