The next day, Eli and I had to go back to school. School was the last place I wanted to be at, but I knew I couldn't run away from it so I got up and got ready. I met up with Eli at school everyday and he became the new person I would hang out with since Chloe officially became homeschooled. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Eli and I hung out at lunch and in between classes. We even had first and third period together the second semester.
People didn't really talk about me anymore. People didn't talk about Chloe anymore either. I got good grades finally. My highest grade was a 92 and my lowest was and 81. The 92 was math and the 81 was English. Who knew I wouldn't be that great at my own language? Oh wait, I knew. Eli had that class with me and he tried tutoring me. He had a 98 in that class so why not help a buddy out? Eli gave up on me half way though. He wasn't a good teacher and my learning skills weren't any better.
After school, we would all hang out with Chloe. We've all done so many things that I honestly didn't think I'd ever do in my entire life. First, we went to play laser tag. It was my first time. I was so good at it too. I shot Eli sixteen times, and I shot David fourteen times. Chloe was on my team, so I kept trying to protect her, but somehow this girl got first place. I was kind of jealous. Second, we went to a zoo. We all got to take pictures of lots of animals. I got to hold a tarantula and Chloe held a boa. Eli was terrified of both spiders and snakes so Chloe and I kept trying to scare him. He was about to punch me, but his reactions were just too funny. We fed giraffes, horses, llamas, and even elephants. Chloe was so fascinated with wild life. She smiled at everything she saw. She got to pet sheep, pigs, rabbits, and there was even a kangaroo. Everyone was so happy to see Chloe smiling so much. She danced her way through the zoo. The zoo had an aquarium as well. We saw dolphins, sharks, jellyfish, seahorses, etc. Chloe's dad ended up videoing Chloe's reaction to everything that we all ended up laughing at with joy later on that day. Next, Chloe wanted to do simple, hands-on activities. We went to the store to get tons of groceries, and we headed back to Chloe's house to bake so many different foods. We made fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, whatever that was, and also Cuban sandwiches. For desserts we made, key lime pie, mango wraps topped with whipped cream, and some brownies. Eli burned the brownies though. Chloe also wanted to do some art. We made self portraits, nature paintings, and we even tried to recreate some popular artworks. I will never again try to paint anything though. Chloe wanted to do one more thing that she knew would take some time. She wanted to travel. Not just anywhere, but Chloe wanted to travel to foreign countries. Chloe's mom asked her where she wanted to go. It turns out Chloe made a list of places: Paris, Italy, Rio, Tokyo, Singapore, and Bora Bora. She said she wanted to go to Paris last for a reason I didn't know. She looked at me when she said that though.
It took us a week just to plan everything, but we all finally came to a conclusion. Our first destination was Rio. I realized that I was going to have to skip school for now, and deal with the consequences later. After packing up pretty much my whole room, we headed for the airport. Chloe got to sit next to me on the plane, and so did Eli. Eli's grandma said it was fine for him to tag along, so everyone of us got to be together. Eli unfortunately forgot to tell his grandma that we were going to be gone for awhile. As we were flying, Chloe fell right to sleep on my shoulder, and everyone else fell asleep eventually.
I woke up with a pain in my neck from the way I was sleeping. I saw Chloe next to me awake, and she didn't look to good. She said she was feeling a little nauseous, so I helped her to the bathroom and let her stay in there as long as she needed. She came out about ten minutes later. She said she felt really sick and that her head was hurting. I let her lay her head on my shoulder and close her eyes. I even had these earmuffs that she could put on to avoid any noise. I hoped that she would maybe take a nap and wake up feeling a lot better.
When we arrived at our destination, which took like half the day to get there, the airport was shaped weird. I assumed that everything would be weird in foreign countries though. I looked around to see a lot of people from different cultures, and many, if not, most of the people didn't speak English. I thought my head was starting to hurt from how many people were talking in different languages. Chloe's head was still hurting, so we headed out of there as quickly as we could. It was so beautiful outside. It was hot there as well, but the wind was really blowing. It felt amazing, and Chloe thought it felt good too.
We followed our parents too this interesting looking car. It looked different than what I was used too. We drove around until we reached a beautiful hotel. It was a very tall hotel. There had to be at least thirty floors. I looked at it amazed for a second before we all went inside. There were probably fifteen different hallways leading to somewhere different, and that's just the bottom floor.
David went up with Chloe's dad to the front desk to get us checked in. When David came back, he handed me the room key and told me to take Chloe to our room so she can rest. Eli came with me so we wouldn't get lost. It took us a couple minutes to get to the room. It was a really large hotel. I walked Chloe inside, Eli on her other side, and she laid down on the bed closest to the door. When she laid down, I then noticed the room we were in. It was huge. It had three beds, a hallway to the bathroom, and a large window that had a beautiful view of the city. I could see the ocean.
It was dark out by the time we got there, so I decided to get ready for bed. Eli chilled in the bed next to us. He was going through channels on TV and Chloe had fallen asleep, so I went ahead and took a shower.
When I came back out from the shower, David and Mom were there with some food they got from a local store. After we ate, we went to sleep. I slept with Chloe, Mom and David got the next bed, and Eli got a bed all to himself. Chloe was supposed to sleep with her parents, but, hey, one night wouldn't hurt.
The next morning, we went to the beach. I'd tell you which one, but I still can't pronounce it. Chloe wanted to go swimming so everyone got in the water, except for David because he was taking photos of us on his new phone.
After the beach, we went to see the statue of Jesus. It was so much bigger in person. We took tons of pictures. After the pictures, we went hang gliding. Mom was scared of heights so her reaction was priceless. David took pictures of her screaming. I couldn't wait for him to print those pictures out.
We stayed in Rio for three days before we went to our second destination: Tokyo. David told me when he was in college, he met a friend who could speak fluent Japanese, and he taught David everything he knew. I never knew David could speak Japanese until we got there. The traffic in Tokyo was unreal. There were like ten different ways to go through an intersection. I thought we were going to wreck. People were walking everywhere as well. It took twenty minutes to get to the hotel we were staying at. This hotel was probably twice as big as the other one. Checking in, David was speaking in Japanese to the woman at the front desk. It hurt my head listening to it.
In Tokyo, we mainly took lots of pictures and ate at a lot of restaurants that I couldn't pronounce. Everything seemed colorful. It was different but still amazing. And we stayed in Tokyo for the rest of the week.
The next place we went to was Singapore. We did a city sightseeing. There were so many places we saw but to be honest I don't remember what they were. We only stayed for a couple days because we needed to speed up our trip. Chloe wasn't feeling too well.
The next place was supposed to be Bora Bora, but Chloe said that we need to go to Paris. I asked her why we need to skip these last few places. She wouldn't answer my question. She just kept saying we needed to get to Paris.
David was looking at flight schedules to see when and where we can fly to Paris. The airport we were closest too didn't have a flight to Paris until the next week, but that's all he could find so we waited.
Chloe was throwing up a lot. She easily became cold even though the temperatures were warm and barely ate a thing because she was always sleeping. Chloe's parents wanted to take her to a doctor but Chloe didn't want too. We all new exactly why she was sick anyway. Chloe said to wait until we get back home. We weren't supposed to be back there for another month. That was the plan anyway. But since we would be heading to our final destination in one week, I'd say we would've been back home in about two weeks maybe less.
When we finally reached the next week, we made sure we had everything and headed for the airport. I told Chloe with a smile that we were finally heading to Paris, and she smiled back. I asked her why she wanted to go to Paris last.
"Chloe, why did you want to come here last?"
"Paris is called the 'City of Love' and, well, I want to spend some of my last memories there. I gotta do this now, or I'll never be able too." She smiled as her eyes started tearing up. I was so confused. I didn't understand what she meant by that. I was going to ask her what she was talking about, but I decided to just wait and see.
