she wants to be thin
not because of the models in magazines,
and not because of the TV stars,
but because she wishes nothing more
than to fit into the narrow mindset
that is society
she wants to slip through
the tiny crack
in the tight walls
that form the borders
of society's
approval
and maybe the slits
that eyes form
when they see her
are nothing
compared to the slits
that pattern her frail wrists
her mind has transformed
into something like
a photo copier,
a device that will churn out
emotions and thoughts and decisions and opinions
exactly like everyone else's
she is nothing more
than a carbon copy
of society's expectations,
a sheet of paper
struggling to find
the gap between mindsets
