Gary's POV

(Months later...)

I'm not sure whether the reason as to why I am shivering is down to the cold weather outside or down to the worry spreading through my body. At the minute I'm in a trance, the room around me is slowly spinning like I've just gotten off a fair ground ride. Mark clutches tightly to my hands, bringing me back to reality and nudging me with his elbow as he perches on the arm rest, letting me know why exactly I'm here, sitting on an uncomfortable chair in a cold room, that is. Neither of us breathe a word to each other, we just glance into one anothers eyes every couple of seconds, the silence between the pair of us says enough. Resting my head backwards, briefly I close my eyes, trying to block out the loud screams which have been constantly going on for the past hour. Just two hours ago, me and Mark were resting together on the sofa. I was doing some online paperwork, for the upcoming charity ball and Mark snuggled next to me under a blanket, dozing off. Our peace and quiet soon came to an end by a simple phone call out of the blue, although we've been expecting it for the past two weeks. The female muttered a single sentence down my ear from the other end of the line. "Its coming." The two words continue to ring through my ears. Once the screams of pain come to an abrupt stop, my eyes snap open and my heart thumps inside of my chest. There's a silence, a silence which makes me feel incredibly sick. With a blurred vision, I watch the female in a white outfit, stand with her back towards me and Mark. Shakily I grip tighter to Mark's hands, digging my nails into his flesh, until a sharp cry fills the room and we both breathe out a sigh of relief.

In a matter of seconds, a small bundle is practically shoved into my arms causing me and Mark to break contact. Loudly crying at the top of its little lungs, the nurse glares at the pair of us. "Oh...and by the way. Its a boy."

Mark's eyebrows rise by the words and his bottom lip trembles. "...A...A...boy..." He literally chokes whilst speaking. Not saying a single thing, I direct my eyes to the small parcel resting in my arms. Stretching up his little arms, his face turns a light red from the amount of crying. Handing me a small bottle of white liquid, the nurse places it into the open mouth of the small figure, that's when the crying comes to an end. Tears from Mark's eyes drop onto my jeans as his finger gently strokes the child's little hand. Blowing air out from my cheeks, strangely the room has turned into a sauna. A single tear escapes my eye and rolls onto the soft pale blue blanket. Watching the small lips wrap around the teat, I manage to drag my eyes away from the beautiful sight, to notice Mark's eyes flooding.

"O...Oh...gosh..." Speaking in a hoarse voice, I stare up at my lover, now surrendering to my own water works. "...Our...Our Son, Markie."

Pressing his forehead against my temple, through the tears he pushes out a broad smile. "He's got your nose." He comments.

Breathing out a deep breath, I focus on the small boy who's happily sucking on the rubber nozzle. "...Looks like he's going to be a foodie like me an all." I joke, which causes both me and Mark to silently laugh.

"Have you got everything?" I peer around the back of the car to Mark once the baby seat is secured in the back seat.

"Oh...er...let me check one more time." Sprinting up the steps towards the hospital, he heads back to the hotel room for the millionth time for one more check.

"Oh 'eck, Markie." I shake my head when the figure is out of sight. "Daddy would forget his head if it wasn't attached to his body." Smirking at the little boy who is sound asleep in the baby car seat, the flutters re appear every time I look at him. It still doesn't feel real. Me and Mark are parents. After all these months of fussing, stressing and arguing, he's finally here and fully healthy.
