The Call

As a kid I saw sports as something that relaxes me and comforts me especially baseball and softball. They made me who I am but most importantly it was my dad and older sister who helped me find my passion. Me and my twin brother Jasper both love sports it's in our blood it's what makes us a Watson. But he has his own story to tell but this is mine. It all happened on a day when I got a call.

I was just finishing up my workout at the gym with my best friend Trish he have been best friends since we were kids we grew up next door to each other and we were inseparable. Where ever I was Trish was and same said for me. Me and Trish played both baseball and softball together in high school and in college that was until Trish's junior year. But she is my person as I am hers. "Jade. Earth to Jade" Trish said to me since she noticed i zoned out. "Yeah" I said Trish replied "Jade were you not listening? Of course you weren't considering your phone has been ringing for the last couple of minutes"

I picked my phone out of my shorts pocket and saw it was coming up with a San Diego area code not knowing who it was I answered it. "Hello who is this" the voice replied back " Hi is Jade Watson available this is Robert Jeffries Executive Director of Scouting for the Padres?" all I know was I was completely speechless so much so that I dropped my phone. I picked it back up quickly and answered "Yes this is she" Mr. Jeffries started throwing out all my stats and records from high school and college which surprised the hell out of me that he knew but I guess when your a scout you have to know everything. He said something that made me freeze and I asked him to repeat that again sir. He said " well miss Watson with a record like yours you could be the change that the Padres need how would you like coming out to San Diego for a tour and to see how we run as a team? Would you be interested?" All I know is my heart was racing like I just ran a marathon when I told him " He'll yeah" then I realized what I said and started freaking out and I answered back again "I would love to take you up on your offer just let me know when." We said our goodbyes and he said he would have his assistant contact me with the details.

I turn and see Trish just standing there looking at me like a crazy person " Trish why are you staring at me." "Um maybe I thought my bestie was having a seizure or something since she completely froze during that phone call who was that any way?" She said to me I know once I tell her she will freak out one because her best friend got an opportunity of a lifetime two being the Padres are her favorite team. And guess what she freaked out as soon as I said "Oh, That was Robert Jeffries with the Padres." And I never got to finish cause she went on her tangent. I have been friends with her long enough that I am used to them but to whoever marries her good luck to you cause she is crazy but I love her. Once she calmed down I told her everything all that seemed to be on her mind was celebrating she wanted to go out clubbing while I just wanted a bar. So we compromised and got what we both wanted.
