The Beauty in a Black Sky

Chapter 2

Rick was out grocery shopping at 5:00 am on a Saturday because he gets off of work at 4:00 and Raley's is on the other side of Sacramento; so it takes a while to get over there. While he was in the check out line, he saw the cashier and was stunned. She was a 22 years old single woman with blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. While she was scanning his items he started to flirt with her, she flirted back. He asked for her name and her name was Cathey. And at the end of his line of items he asked her out to dinner, she accepted and he walked away a happy man.
When he got home he told his parent about what had happened and his parent yelled at him. They didn't like the idea of him dating anyone because they didn't want anyone to break his heart. They know Rick's life is rough and they don't want someone to break his heart to make it worse. But Rick is up for it and is sure he won't get his heart broken.
Later that day he went out for dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House with Cathey and they had a good meal. Rick got a steak and Cathey got a salad. Their conversations were all over the place but they loved the diversity of their personality. They loved how different they were from each other. Love is not always about finding someone who is like you but finding someone who completes you. It is like a puzzle, the pieces have to be different in order to complete the puzzle. They may be different pieces but they come together to make one big picture. They knew this and they believed it. He had the time of his life at dinner that night. And he really felt that she would be the one. He believed that she was the one.
They had been dating for three months; they loved each other a lot. They enjoyed each other's company and they hung out when they could. They couldn't see each other much because she started to work overtime at Raley's. Rick continued his work at McDonalds but he didn't work overtime. Although they didn't see each other much, they cherish when they do see each other.
On their four month anniversary they went out to dinner at one of the fanciest restaurants in town. They had lots of fun and were almost done with their night. But right before they got up to leave, this guy walked up to them. Cathey seemed to know him, but he seemed enraged. Rick stood up and tried to protect Cathey but the tall man pushed him down. Rick got back up, and just listened to Cathey and the man's conversations. It turns out Cathey was cheating on him with this man. Rick was angry and walked out.
