| CHAPTER ONE - 733 WORDS |

MACKENZIE SIGHS RATHER loudly than she should of as the words came from her parents mouth she most definitely did not want to hear.

"Summer camp?!" Mackenzie exclaims with her arms flailing around her. She most definitely did not like the idea of going to summer camp with other people who she barley knew.

She never was one to socialize after what happened with her old best friend. Mackenzie was best friends with this boy named Gabriel. They were inseparable until one day he just stopped replying to her texts and constant calls. She went to his house to find no one home. Mackenzie placed inside her brain that he moved but she never could. Just the fact that he's been gone for almost two months still makes it hard to sleep at night.

"You'll be fine. It's not like you'll die." Her father rolls his eyes and takes a long death stare at his daughter. She meets his gaze, lifting her middle high up towards his face before stomping away to her room.

Mackenzie mumbled profanities underneath her breath as she reached for her teal suitcase, grabbing clothes and stuffing them inside carelessly. She could care less of what it looks like from the inside as long as she had some pajamas and fresh clothes. The smell of the outdoor bathroom was already making her sick to her stomach and she wasn't even there yet.

'RIM OF THE WORLD ADVENTURE CAMP' was the first thing you could see when you reached the area. Mackenzie lifted her head from beneath her palm, feeling her elbow ache from the drive that she had been through only in that position.

"Peace out, bitches." Mackenzie smiled sarcastically and opened the back seat door, getting out quickly. She went behind the trunk and opened it. Her hands felt around for the suitcase as she looked around this camp. She finally reached the handle before jerking it out, slamming the trunk door and her door. Mackenzie turned around and strutted towards the entrance.

She spotted a boy near her age. He had red hair and a more classy clothes on than for a camp. A duffle bag was around his shoulders as his mom ushered him towards her, leading him inside. Sometimes, Mackenzie wished her mother was like that but that was simply impossible for her mom. It wasn't her nature.

"Alex! Mackenzie! I am your leader, Logan." This boy came forward to the two children and single mom.

'So Alex is the red head. Noted.' Mackenzie placed inside of her head and she wheeled her suitcase closer to Logan and Alex, listening to what he had to say, even though it was most likely not interesting.

"Now, if you look around, you'll see a lot of interesting things. First interesting thing we have is Carl, right here!" He leads the three over to this boy and showed us this handshake named the black man handshake.

Logan continues to walk them through interesting things and people until they step in line to grab some sort of paper or whatever. Mackenzie yawns as Alex goes in front of her, seeing himself in the middle of two girls he had no idea about. Alex tries to talk to her which she ultimately shuts down by not responding, almost making Mackenzie stifle out a giggle.

"Hey Mackenzie! You know, I'mma start calling you Kenzie because your name is too long to come out of my mouth. That sounded wrong but I don't give a shit! Move along." Logan talks quickly, making Mackenzie roll her eyes playfully.

She starts walking behind Alex to see a boy with silk clothes on, already telling by the ear ring and chains around his neck that he was going to be a pain in the ass. He clearly ruined his chances with any girl by the looks of thing with one of the counselors, coming around to take cellphones. Mackenzie walks up and places her decoy phone inside, already praising herself for bringing it with her.

Everyone walks outside to see Alex and his mom singing a song that Mackenzie dreamt would be sang by her parents but never happened. At this point, she could careless about what her parents ever do anymore. A girl can dream about it but never have it become real.
