BILL RANG THE DOORBELL and waited for Kristy to open the door. He didn't know why he was so nervous, he had been to Kristy's house a million times- just not to see Kristy specifically. Bill was about to give the bell a second ring when Kristy opened the door.

And it was pure pandemonium.

Step-siblings Karen and Andrew running around the house, shouting while older brothers Charlie and Sam try to get things under control. Kristy was at the door with a backwards baseball cap on her head and her adopted little sister Emily was squirming, trying to rip her hand away from Kristy's who was gripped on tight.

"Sorry I took so long." Kristy breathed out. She looked beyond exhausted. "Um...come on in..." Kristy ushered in Bill who looked like he had never seen a mess so big in his entire life. Papers with drawings that were undoubtedly made by kids were strewn about along with discarded toys.

"Kristy! Kristy! Kristy!" Karen tugged on Kristy's free arm.

"What is it Karen?"

"Andrew is hogging the toy truck..." Karen pointed a finger at her little brother who had the toy truck clutched close to his body.

"Andrew, let her play with it. Girls can play with truck too you know..." Kristy pushed Emily out in front of her. "Look, I'll be out for a while so look after Emily while I'm gone." Kristy said, nodding to Bill.

The two exited the house, Kristy closing the door after them. "Wow, you s...sure have a lot of siblings K-Kristy." Bill said, commenting on all of the chaos he had witnessed.

Kristy adjusted herself on her bike "Yeah..." Kristy tucked a strand of hair back. "And to think that I thought 3 brothers was a lot."

"Take everything but the Delicious Deals, my mom loves em." Eddie warned as everyone stocked up on snacks for their trip to the barrens. "Hey, first you said the barrens, now you're saying the sewers, I mean...what if we get caught?"

"The sewers are public works, and we're the public...aren't we?" Bill answered as if he thought of answers to everyone's questions beforehand.

"You know my friends would blow their shit if they found out I was hanging out with you guys, right?" Kristy said, crisscross-applesauce on the counter- despite Eddie's protests on how sanitary that would be.

"Hey Eddie! Are these birth control pills?" Richie asked amusedly, holding open a cabinet chock full of pills- at least the most pills she'd ever seen in her life...
