MJ tiredly rubbed her eyes as she leaned her elbows on the table she and Peter were studying at. "Come on, MJ. We're almost there." Peter reassured her, highlighting a sentence or two in his books.
The two teens were studying for a huge exam they had the following morning. They began studying after decathlon practice, so around 4:30, but they almost forgot they had additional homework that was also due. So they did that first, that took them a couple hours alone, so they really didn't start studying until 7:30-8:00 at night.
"I know we are, Peter, but I've never stayed up this late." She sat up in her chair again, taking a sip of her now room temperature water. Gross. Peter gave her a 'really' look. It was hard for him to believe that the Michelle Jones hadn't stayed up until 12 before.
"Okay, so, maybe I've had. But I was reading books that are interesting to me! Not.." She glanced over at their notes and squinted her eyes, trying to make figure of what she sloppily wrote down. "Uh... whatever the hell this is." She slouched back in her chair again.
Peter let out a low laugh. "World History, MJ. We're studying World History." She let out a loud groan, resting her head on the table, using her arms to block out the dim light. "My worst subject. This is shit, Parker."
Frowning at his girlfriend, he scooted his chair next to hers and wrapped his arms around her slim, tall frame. "It's okay, MJ, it's not my best either. But you have to promise me you're not going to give up because it's hard."
She scoffed, thankful that her face was covered with her arms and table so that Peter didn't have to see the goofy smile on her face. "I didn't say I was giving up, just that it was hard."
"Oh." Peter said deflated. He took his arms off from around her and began to scoot his chair away from her but was stopped. "And I didn't say you could move away either." MJ pulled him even closer to her.
With a slight pink on his cheeks, Peter smiled at her. "Well, let's move to the couch then and cuddle. That way we can hold each other and be comfortable too! It's a win-win." He gave her a dorky grin and MJ couldn't help but chuckle.
She was so smitten for this boy that it hurt sometimes. The tingly feelings he gave her when they kissed, held hands, or just bluntly flirt with each other drove her mad in the best way possible.
The two snuggled on the couch with a big blue blanket covering the both of them. Underneath the blanket laid MJ and Peter holding hands and being all lovey dovey with each other. Which is what Peter wants to do 24/7 but Michelle isn't quite comfortable with the whole PDA thing yet. She's easing herself into it and is slowly getting more comfortable every day.
"So," Peter started after multiple minutes of comfortable silence. "If you only stay up due to a good book. What does it have to include to be apart of MJ's Midnight Reads?" He asked her, looking down at the girl resting her head on his chest with her eyes closed.
She gave him a slight shrug and a small hum in response, she was barely awake and could fall asleep at any moment now. "I dunno.. it needs to have a good plot, strong female characters, not teach me World History." She chuckled a little, looking up at Peter who laughed a bit also.
"And... God, you're gonna tease me for this, but romance." Her cheeks glowed a warm shade of red as she fiddled with her fingers, still glancing at Peter but now anxiously.
Peter couldn't help but smirk a little. Of course his girl was into romantic novels. Honestly, he couldn't see MJ read anything else. "Oh~ MJ the cheesy romantic!~" He poked her nose, causing the red on her cheeks to brighten and the butterflies in her stomach to maximize.
"Shut up, Parker! I just.. I dunno, man. I started reading these sort of novels around the age of twelve because everyone around me was getting coupled up and I didn't have any feelings for a boy yet." She explained, looking at her white cotton socks on her feet. "I just wanted to see what was up with the whole love thing so, I picked up a book and sadly, have been hooked ever since."
Peter's face softened just hearing her story. She was much more complex than she lead on. That was one thing he loved about her. The more you hang out with her, the more you know. It was like a puzzle or a video game. The more you play, the more levels you unlock. He loved unlocking new things about her.
"That was the softest thing I've ever heard!" He squealed slightly, wrapping his arms around her as he pulled her back to his chest, smooshing her lovingly. "Ew, Peter, no! That's not me!" She laughed a little, trying to get out of his grip but not trying hard enough that he would actually let go of her.
She didn't want that. Ever.
She never wanted him to let go.
"Oh, come on! Yes, it is! You didn't understand love so you learned the best way you could, by reading! Oh, my little researcher." He teased slightly, kissing her forehead. MJ let out a small playful groan. The color on her cheeks weren't going anywhere. "Shut up, Parker."
"Not in a million dreams, Jones."
