Dating a Halstead

ch.1

an alarm went off and you could probably hear it throughout the apartment. Will turned around and turned the alarm off. he had to get up and start getting ready for work. he sighed and slowly got up. he stretched and looked over at his love of his life. he smiled lightly remembering how they met.. she was rushed into the hospital after she had a great fall and when they were going to put an iv in her arm she freaked out and had a panic attack. Will was there to calm her down.

*flashback*

the paramedics rushed Leah into the hospital in a gurneys

"what do we got?" Maggie asked as they took her to trauma room 2

"she fell as she was moving boxes. complaining of bad leg pain. leg is swollen" the paramedic replied

"ok" Maggie said

"oh and maggie.. she has severe anxiety" the paramedic added. Maggie nodded and got her to the room. Will walked in and said

"hi Leah, I'm dr. Halstead.. can you tell me what happened" he said putting on gloves

"I uh fell while moving some boxes and my leg landed in a different way than my body" she replied. Halstead nodded and said "ok... we'll take good care of you"

"give her an iv and 8ml of tylenol" Halstead said. the nurse got an iv needle and right when Leah saw it she freaked out.

"n-no... get away from me!" Leah screamed. she started to get up but Halstead grabbed her shoulder

"don't touch me!" she screamed and moved away from Will. she started to cry and Will bent down to her level

"hey hey, Leah calm down it's ok" he said and gently reached for her arm. she allowed him to rest his hand on top of hers. "take deep breaths" he said and she did.

"listen to me.. we need to put the iv in to help you.. just hold my hand and look away while the nice nurse put the iv in.. ok?" he said. leah was hesitant for a minute. she nodded slightly and grabbed Will hand. she looked away and clenched her eyes shut. the nurse put the iv in.

"there its in.. see wasn't so bad.. your such a trooper tiger" Will comforted Leah.

*end of flashback*

he smiled and got up and got dressed in his scrubs. before he left. he went to Leah and kissed her forehead as she slept peacefully.

he walked out the door and to work. he walked in and Maggie greeted him

"hey Halstead" she said

"hey mags" he replied back.

"how's Leah doing?" she asked typing in her computer.

"shes going good.. her anxiety is started to go down" he replied before walking into the break room and hanging up his coat. he heard a beep and he knew a patient was being brought in by paramedic. he ran out and saw the paramedic bring in a patient in a gurney.

"what we got" he said as he put gloves on.

"patient severely burned in house fire" the paramedic replied

Will nodded and said "take him to trauma room 5" they wheeled him to the trauma room.

"ok lift him on the bed on three. one. two. three"

they lifted the patient onto the bed and Will went right to work.

"he's too badly burned for an iv.. call the burn unit.. tell them to get down here. in the meantime. I need a mask. lungs are filled up with smoke. I need a cat scan and x ray for internal injurys." Will said and the nurse nodded and went to call the burn unit. while another nurse put a mask on the patient.

burn unit came down and examined his wounds.

"third degree burns covering most of his body. I suggest a cat scan for any internal bleeding" the burn unit said and Will nodded and said "we are one step ahead of you"

after his shift was over he drove home exhausted..today was a busy day and he just wanted to lay in bed with his lovely girlfriend. he opened the front door and he saw Leah laying on the couch watching tv.

"hey.. how was your day?" she immediately asked

"exhausting" he replied tiredly.

"awww. why don't you take a shower and than come lay here with me" she replied smiling. he nodded and made his way to the bathroom.

after his shower. he changed into a white shirt and grey sweatpants and walked over to the couch where Leah was Sitting. he went over and laid down. his feet were on the edge of the couch while his head was on her lap. she ran her fingers through his hair and he sighed in relaxation

"tell me why your day was so exhausting sweetie" she said softly

"I just had patient to patient to patient to take care of today.. I didn't get a single break. I mean I absolutely love my job. it's just so stressful sometimes" he replied.

"why dont we go in the room and go to bed.. you sound really tired" she suggested. he nodded his head slowly and got up and they both made there way to their bedroom and laid down under the covers she turned the light off and cuddled next to him.

"goodnight Will" she whispered

"goodnight L" he said back
