Dating a Halstead

Ch.6

Its been a couple months since I was exposed to the poison.. I was getting ready for a state fair I was going to with Maggie and Natalie. I also finished getting my Masters and now I'm a student psychologist and Dr. Charles is my teacher basically and I know my anxiety won't get in the way.

I put on my blue flower sun dress when Will walked in already ready for work.
"That's a pretty sun dress" he said. I smiled and replied "you bought it for me you dope"
He smiled lightly and looked down "are you sure it's a good idea to go to the fair with Maggie and Natalie" he asked
"Yeah why?" I asked back. I saw him give me a doctor look and I laughed and said "there's that look"
"What look" he asked
"That persuasive doctor look you give all your patients when you try to convince them to do something...... are you worried about my anxiety" I asked him
"No it's not that Leah it's just..." he started but I cut him off
"Will" I said seriously
He sighed and nodded his head. I stepped closer to him and ran my fingers through his hair
"I'll be fine" I said above a whisper
"You don't know that... the last time you had a panic attack you fainted.. who knows if it will happen again" he said getting frustrated
"It won't.. wanna know why... because my wonderful redneck of a boyfriend who happens to be a doctor has taught me so many ways to control my anxiety.. and I'll have a doctor and
A nurse with me" I said
He sighed and nodded his head. I grabbed both of his cheeks and kissed him lightly.
" I'm gonna finish getting ready" I said and he nodded

I spent a good amount of time at the fair and than Dr. Charles called me into the hospital so I went to the hospital immediately.

After me and Dr. Charles evaluated the patient I walked out.

I walked down to the ED and saw all these people being brought in.. my breathed fastened and I immediately took deep breaths controlling my anxiety. I went over to April
"What's going on" I asked
"A car ran into the fair." My heart stopped
"Are Maggie and Natalie ok?" I asked
"Yeah they are treating patients on scene" she replied and I nodded.

I walked in the room I saw Will and Dr. Charles were in and saw a man on the bed.

" i was aiming for 20 but the days no over yet" he said I slowly backed out of the room and put the pieces together.. he ran his truck into the fair on purpose and there was more coming. I walked out and looked around and saw April

"April.. the patient that Halstead is treating is the driver" I said
"That ran into the fair?" She asked and I nodded
"It wasn't an accident" I whispered
"What" she asked back
"He said he was aiming to kill 20 but only killed 7 and that there's more to come.. April I want you to call CPD and get them here and on scene.. tell them that I said to call the bomb squad and do a check of his car for any explosives" I said
"Explosives.. you think he meant it." She asked
"What else could he have meant" I said. She nodded and ran over to the phone and called CPD.

So it did turn out that the mans car was filled with explosives and everyone is telling me that I did a good job figuring out what he meant.

I was now home relaxing on the couch with a blanket still waiting for Will.

Will eventually walked in with a dog. I immediately got

"Um Will.. I think a dog followed you home" I said and went over to pet the dog

"Oh no I brought the dog home. It was someone's dog after the car went into the fair" he replied. I stopped petting the dog and got up

"Are you on drugs.... this is someone's dog" I said

"Yeah but the dog was at the hospital all day and no one came for him and I didn't want the poor thing to go to the shelter" he defended himself. I sighed and looked at the dog and smiled lightly

"I guess we do need a pet in this house"

He smiled and hugged me

"His name is Cole" Will said and I laughed and said ok.

"While I order a bed for Cole online why don't you get some old blankets for Cole to sleep on tonight?" I suggested and Will nodded and went to find our old blankets. I looked back at the dog and crouched down and pet him. I then sat on the couch and started ordering stuff online for the dog.
