Teddy was wide awake.
This wasn't an event that occurred often at this ghastly time-seven o'clock. She was by all definitions of the word a night owl, staying up till times like two, (which she'll forever blame on the anime) and waking up at normal times like ten or eleven or being dragged out of bed around eight o'clock on school days, often to groans of complaint.
Coffee was her best friend.
So as she frowned at the glaringly white walls above her where she laid on her top bunk, Teddy took the time to observe her sleeping friends.
With many thanks to her sleeping schedule she had never really been able to see any of her friends asleep.
It was strangely peaceful, being able to be around them but without all the noise, the soft breathing and light snores sending her into a calm state.
Rolling to her left in her mound of blankets, Teddy managed to nearly roll straight off the top bunk, stopped only by the small bar that rose a mere ten centimetres above the bed. Real safe.
Directly opposite her on the bunk bed pressed onto the opposite wall laid Blue. Well you couldn't really say that they laid there when they floated half a metre of the bed, the blanket draped across them pooling back onto the bed in a waterfall-esque manner. Their facial expression, however, was warped into a frown, face tight with pain and tears dripping down their face onto the blanket below. Their body was curled tight into a ball below the blanket and small gasps of breathe sounded from their frail and petite body at random intervals.
In all honesty it was a miracle that they were still asleep, Blue was both a night owl and a early bird, surviving on one or two hours of sleep, herbal tea, blueberry waffles and enough blue lollipops that their tongue was always stained blue.
There was a reason they had earned their nickname.
Seeing her friends distress Teddy leaned over and ditched a pillow at them.
With a jolt her small friend awoke, sitting bolt upright in the air and knocking their head into the roof. A strangled cry of oof rang through the air.
When they looked around in distress, trying to figure out what had happened, Teddy held her hands up and gave them a thumbs up, which was returned with a half hearted smile before they picked up a book and fell into the world of fantasy.
With that resolved, Teddy glanced underneath Blue at Shoot, who was a sleeping clump of blankets, the mountain of fabric rising and falling with every light snore they made, random limbs poking out in every which direction. Shoot was the only other normal person and would stay up even later then Teddy and wake up even later, only coaxed out of their bed in the morning with the promise of pizza and double espressos.
The only other person in the room was Persephone, who slept underneath her in the bunk. Leaning her head over the bunk bed and glancing at said raven, she was greeted with wide brown eyes staring back at her instead of the expected sleeping closed eyes. With a silent monotone voice her friend spoke. "What are you doing."
This time Teddy did fall off the bunk, falling onto the ground with a giant thump, so startled that she bolted right off.
"Holy fudging shit ow."
Blue nearly tripped over themselves in their rush to get to her aid, finding the need to cry out, "profanities," as they went.
Persephone gave a small rough laugh and deemed it better to watch her suffering as she stayed right where she laid in bed.
The only sign that Shoot was alive was a grunt before his mound of blankets was silent once again.
Teddy pushed Blue away lightly, she was fine, the blankets she had been tangled in had cushioned her fall.
She turned to Persephone, brushing away Blue's worried murmurs. "I'm fine, don't worry about me." She made eye contact with her friend, pink eyes meeting brown, "Persephone, you are a bitch."
She merely shrugged, breaking eye contact to watch Blue float away. "You're welcome. What are you doing up anyway?"
This time Teddy shrugged, hauling herself onto her friends bed, "dunno, I just woke up I guess. Do you wanna go grab breakfast, I need coffee in five minutes or I think I might die."
Her friend couldn't help the slight smile that appeared on her face, "sure, i could do with some crepes with whipped cream."
"Your lactose intolerant you idiot."
"Your point being?"
Their conversation was broken by Blue arriving, a lollipop in their mouth. They gave a wide grin that showcased their already blue tinged lips, "can I come too?"
Teddy stood up, striding towards her drawers to grab some clothes, fondly ruffling her smaller friends hair on the way past, "of course you can. Shoot get up, we're grabbing pizza."
A muffled groan was heard. "Pizza?"
