"Not yet, beautiful. You and I have some business to attend to."
My heart started to pound in my chest but I didn't let my shock, or the small slither of fear, show on my face. I had to be confident and crafty in this situation if I want it to go my way. Leaning back against the car, I smile up at Chase, his body so close I could smell his aftershave.
"I don't think there is anything we have to discuss."
"Oh yes there is. I want to strike a deal. Especially after what just occurred."
Letting out a laugh, I shake my head. He really thought I'd strike a deal with him? Pushing off from the car, I stepped closer to him, maintaining eye contact as I spoke again.
"Listen here hot stuff. We have nothing to discuss and that's the end of it."
I go to move past him, only to be pushed back against the cold metal. Glaring up at him, I meet his cold blue eyes, he was calm and he knew he was the one in control. Holding his gaze, I subtly move my hand into my jacket and pulled out my small Glock 26, the only weapon that hides in this outfit. Lifting it up, I placed it against his temple and spoke calmly.
"Let me say that again, Chase. We have nothing to discuss."
I pressed the barrel of the gun harder into the side of his head but he didn't even flinch, let alone move out the way like I hoped. A cocky smile played on his lips as he looked down at me, his eyes glinting in the street light menacingly.
"You're bluffing."
I hold his gaze for a few more seconds before lowering my gun. His smile grew as defeat surrounded me. This was going to be a lot harder than I thought.
"So as I was saying, Rebecca, we have a deal to-"
My body moved faster than he could comprehend, my fist connecting solidly with his face before he even saw my shoulders shift. As he recovered from the punch, I moved to perch on the car's bonnet, crossing my legs as I leaned back on my hands. My whole posture screamed confident and I loved the look it caused Chase's face to contort into. I was in control and if this deal was going to go through, it would be on my terms.
"Sorry, what was that you were saying before I so rudely interrupted you?"
Wiping away the blood from his split lip, Chase smiled. It was not the menacing smile I was expecting but a genuinely amused one.
"I should have known... I should have known you wouldn't give up that easily."
He held his hand out to me causing my eyebrow to arch. He laughed at my reaction but didn't drop his hand.
"It was a clever move, punching me that is. I just wanted to congratulate you for that. But seeing as you don't want to shake my hand, which is very rude-"
"I didn't say I wouldn't shake it."
This causes him to send me a beaming smile, holding his hand his hand out to me once again. Damn that smile could make any woman melt in her shoes. Coughing lightly, I stepped away from the car and my hand clasped his in a strong grip. Before I even realised what was happening, the world spun and my front was pressed up against the side of the car once again, my arm twisted behind my back. A laugh escaped my lips.
"Clever. But not clever enough Chase."
With my free arm, I swung my elbow back, the bone connecting with the soft flesh of his stomach causing him to release his grip. Following the movement up, I spun completely out of his reach, my hands grabbing his wrists as he started to recover. Pushing him back, I pinned him between the car and my body. Chase's head lolled back as he let out a hearty laugh.
"You are good."
"Why thank you. I already knew that but sometimes it is nice to hear the words come from someone else's lips."
Feeling him shift under me, I smirk and shake my head, leaning closer to whisper in his ear.
"I wouldn't move unless you want to double over in immense pain in your downstairs area."
All his movements ceased at those words. With my smile growing wider, I leaned backwards a bit in order to put a little distance between the two of us, my hands not leaving their positions on his wrists.
"I think you may be enjoying this too much Miss Gray."
His words left his mouth husky and smooth. Is he flirting with me? Raising an eyebrow, I took a few steps backwards putting a good two metres between us. At this, his face fell for a split second before he stood up, smartening out his shirt and smiling once again at me. Placing a hand on my hip, I smirk back at him before dropping it and becoming serious.
"I believe we were trying to conduct a deal, so before I get bored and leave, I suggest you lay out your proposition on the... metaphorical table."
"Back to business I see. Well I should get talking then. Care to join me up in my office?"
He gestured up to the grand building to the side of us and a smirk covers my lips.
"Lead the way Mr Hunter."
