Percy

"Don't get too comfortable," a guard warned me as they shoved me into a cell. I landed with my face pressed against the cool concrete, "I'm certain they'll execute you soon."

They grinned at me, like saying ominous things to the prisoners was the only fun in their jobs. It probably was.

"Yippee," I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes. I slowly released the grip on my face. "At least my pain will be over..."

"Shut it," the guard said as they locked my cell.

"Hey, what time is it?" I asked sarcastically. "I have an appointment at eight, so let's make this quick."

They angrily glared at me. "If you knew what was good for you you'd shut it."

Then the clanking of metal on concrete burned our ears and interrupted our conversation. Another guard walked in, but this one wasn't wearing their metal helmet.

She had cinnamon brown curls that were pulled into a messy ponytail. Her eyes were golden and bright and full of life. Her chocolate complexion couldn't hide her face full of freckles.

"I'll take him from here," she said. The guard didn't budge. "King's orders. He said he wants the best on this case."

The guard groaned and muttered something under his breath before leaving.

She smiled. "You better get out of here before I murder you."

"Me?" I asked and gulped.

She laughed. "No. Uh, I'm here to rescue you. Princess's orders."

"Thanks, I guess," I said as she unlocked the cell. "I'm Percy."

"Hazel," she replied and stuck out her hand. She pulled me off the ground and placed me in handcuffs. "Our cover story is that we're bringing you to the front of the castle to be executed in front of everyone."

I gulped. "Okay, promise me that you're from Annabeth."

"I am," Hazel assured me. "Now let's move!"

I decided to follow along with Hazel one, because I trusted her, and two, because she was holding a scary looking spear to my back.

She marched me up the dungeon and to the main hallway, where I heard screams coming from a room.

"She's trying to murder me!" Annabeth yelled. "She's a liar!"

"Why would she murder you?" King Fredrick shot back.

"She wants someone of her blood on the throne!"

"Annabeth, that is a preposterous thing to say! Go to your room, young lady!"

There was silence and I could tell Annabeth wasn't moving.

"Do I need to escort you, goddamnit, move!"

There was the hustling of feet as Hazel uncuffed me. "Get out of here!"

I took her advice and ran up the stairs where I quickly ducked behind a suit of armor, just in time for Annabeth's father to march up the stairs with her.

"Now I'm done with your little rebelliousness, Annabeth," he said and sighed. "You need to marry Luke to be Queen. That's what we want!"

"That's not what I want!" she yelled before running into her room. Her father sighed before returning down the stairs.

Then there was a scream from Annabeth's room.

"For Christ's sake, you don't have to be that upset about it!"
