The next day all over the news were headlines of an apartment building that was set on fire by an escaped arson convict.
Ethan saw the news and realized which apartment building it was. "Charlotte, no." His eyes gathered pools and slowly, one at a time the drops slid down his cheeks. After seeing this news he felt uneasy for the next days. And he had great reason to be uneasy, it's just that he couldn't see it, not until it wanted to be seen.
And so time passed on but poor Ethan was starting to become distant to Emily. Maybe it was anguish he was feeling or regret, he couldn't tell. He wished Charlotte was still here, on earth, alive.
In the shadows of Ethan's house lurked a figure that was known too well by dear Charlotte, her Lucifer.
"I think you know someone I know," Lucifer said emerging from the shadows, putting a hand on Ethan's shoulder. The cold touch made his skin crawl.
"Who..who a.a..are y..you?" He finally stuttered out not wanting to look at what was most likely a monster, in his mind at least.
"That's not important," Lucifer turned his head to face her, "what is important, is my taking you."
"T..taking me where?"
She chuckled and smirked while looking down at his shaking body. Slowly, a scythe appeared from dust in her hands, she raised it. Her eyes glowed a menacing red, "To hell of course." And one swing was what it took for Ethan to scream and his vision to go black. He was not to be seen again.
He wasn't to be seen again, neither was Charlotte.
