You were walking down the Main Street of your city. It was a calm afternoon as the lunch rush hasn't started yet. You got out of the office early today and planned to get an iced coffee from your favorite stand. You hop in line at the stand name 'Little Jitter Coffee', strange name but you loved it anyways. The people knew you and knew them. There was a man in front of you, he seemed to be about your age, you didn't pay attention to him you just wait your turn. When you got up there you order your drink.
"How much?"
"Nothing this time (Y/N)." Said the barista.
"What? Why?"
"The man before you payed."
"Oh, that's sweet, did he leave already?"
"He did, but he left his number on your cup, something about thanking him with a text or call."
You smiled; it was a clever way to ask someone out.
"Thank you."
"Have a good day, see you tomorrow."
"You too."
You start your walk to your car to head home for the day. You've been under a lot of stress at the office, and with a large deal that you closed you decided to ask your boss to leave early. She knew the stress the deal put you under and how successfully you closed it. With the revenue it would bring in, she decided you could have the day off.
You complemented calling the number on your cup all day. It wasn't until two that you decided to call.
Ring ring, ring ring, ring ring. "Hello?" The voice of the man from the coffee shop.
"Hi yes, I can't believe I called, my name is (Y/N), you bought me coffee at the stand this morning."
"Oh, hello."
"Yeah, I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me? We can meet at a restaurant of your choosing, my treat?"
"I could like that."
"Say six?"
"Sounds perfect. Let go to the Chinese's place off 8th and Main?" He suggests.
"I like it, see you there. I'm sorry, what is your name?"
"Oh sorry, it's Peter."
A smile forms on your lips. "Okay Peter, I'll see you there."
You spent the rest of you day before picking out and outfit and doing your makeup. With a quick face time with your friend confirmed you were ready.
You drove down there and waited, you waited for a long time, too long. You were about to leave, the pity and shame you were getting from the eyes around you was almost too much. Just as you were about to call it, night, someone sits down in front of you. Definitely not the man from the coffee shop, he had brown hair. This guy was more of a dirty blond.
"Hi toots, sorry I'm late, my boss wouldn't let me go early."
"Of course." You said. "Um, who are you?" You ask lowly.
"I'm your replacement date since the other scum bag didn't bother coming." He replied in the same low tone.
"Thank you." Heat rushed to your face as you glanced down. "I'm (Y/N)."
"I'm Jeremy."
"Thank you, Jeremy."
Dinner was good, you offered to pay, but he insisted. Said the only thing his dad taught him that is useful is that a woman must be treated as one.
