It started snowing on the bus ride back to the house. I stared out the window watching all the flakes fall. Snow means I really will have to stay in the house all weekend. I was hoping to go to the park. Lots of times people drop money and I can use it to buy sweets.
Hyuna grabs my hand as we get to our bus stop. We hop off the bus and start making the freezing walk to the house. When we get back Appa isn't there. Hyuna says he's probably just staying late at work.
Since Appa is at work Hyuna decides we should go to the shops to buy warm cloths. She's been doing jobs for the neighbors and a few for her teachers to. She's made almost 19,000 Won from all her hard work.
Before we go I decided to take my things out of my backpack. When I do something falls out of my backpack. I pick it up and see its a 50,000 Won bill. My eyes widen as I see a note on it. I quickly run out of our room and into the living room with the money.
"Noona! Noona! What does this say?" I say waving around the note that was stuck to the money. Hyuna takes the note from me and reads it in her head. She then looks up at me with a confused look.
"It says, Use this to get some warm cloths. -Miss Jae." Hyuna says.
I reveal the money to her and her eyes widen. She squeals and jumps around adding the money to our pile. Hyuna puts the money in her backpack. She then quickly helps me get my shoes on and we head out to the shops. It's still really cool, but the excitement and Hyuna's constant talking of what we will buy helps keep the cold away. The snow falls in our hair and we joke that our hair will be white before we make it to the shops.
Hyuna gives me her scarf since she has a bigger coat that me. It helps me keep warm better than before. As we get closer to the shop people start pointing out how under dressed we are though. Hyuna pulls me closer and we stay out of peoples way.
We soon react the thrift store that we normally buy cloths from. It's across the street from a music store and a convince store. After we get done here Hyuna says we can go buy candies and a Cd maybe. Mr. Choi is the owner of the thrift shop.
He always helps us find the right sizes. He has kids that are a little older than us and sometimes he gives us their old cloths for free. Hyuna and me walk up to the counter and I stand on my tip toes to ring the bell. Soon Mr. Choi comes out of the back. He smiles brightly when he sees us.
"Ah! My other kids, its been awhile! How is your Appa?" He asks. Hyuna tells hims the truth.
"He's been better lately. Thank you so much for letting us say with you." Hyuna says.
Mr. Choi probably know more than most people, but he still doesn't know the whole truth. Last month Appa got really sad. He was always angry and hit both Hyuna and me. He got fired from his job again and was upset. We told Mr. Choi that he got fired and was angry.
Hyuna said she thought it would be safer if we stayed with Mr. Choi until Appa was feeling better. Us leaving scared Appa really bad. He got it together and got a new job. So thing are a lot better than they were. Appa's not as sad and angry now.
Anyways, Mr. Choi brings us a box full of cloths that his kids just got rid of. There's a pair of new boots for Hyuna, some gloves for me, a hat for me, and mittens for Hyuna. We also got some new long sleeve shirts and long pants.
Since there were no boots or coat for me we have to use our money to buy them. We both also pick out one toy that we found. I pick out a superhero mask and laser gun. Hyuna gets a little thing called a Tamagotchi.
We pay for our things and Mr. Choi gives a discount as always. Hyuna helps me put my hat and boots on and I put on my gloves. She then puts on her boots and mittens. We put our old shoes in Hyuna's backpack. After getting everything sorted out we head across the crowded street the the convince store.
Hyuna says I can pick out two snacks, a drink, and two candies. I look all around the store before I find what I want. I run back to Hyuna and show her the things that I want. She also has her snacks picked out.
We were about to go to the check out when a man approaches us. He has a camera and a notepad. I hide behind Hyuna's back.
