Not So Bad, After All?

School ended and as usual, but now, I face a hard decision. “Come on, Jieun! You know what you want!” Ailee cheered beside me.

“I don’t know Ailee…”

"Come on! Think about the boys we met just now! Those hot cuties!” she shouted. Just then, the people around us gave us some odd looks. I looked down in embarrassment. “Aish, don’t be so loud, Ailee!” I said as I slapped her arm. “How about you don’t be so hesitant?” she pouted.

I.. I really don’t know if I should go on the subway again or call my parents to pick me up… This is a hard decision… This morning was my first time using the subway. My parents have been really protective of me ever since I was really young, and I didn’t really see the world as much as a normal child would. I’ve got the television and internet to teach me, but I never experienced much.

Well, I was lucky to be able to see 12 guys who I find extremely good-looking at the subway today though.

“Sheesh! You’re taking too long! You know what, just come to the subway with me!” Ailee ‘declared’ as she grabbed my hand and dragged me to the subway station. “Wh-Wait! Why are there so many people at the station now?!” I groaned. I never liked crowds. “Because taking the subway station is so fun,” Ailee giggled. I rolled my eyes and nodded.

I guess trying something new won’t be that bad.

I take back what I said. I don’t want to use the subway ever again. It’s as hot as hell here. “Ailee—why is it so hot? Doesn’t a subway have air-conditioning?” I whined. Ailee only eyed me funnily. “Never learnt about the water cycle?” she remarked. “The water cycle actually has something to do with the subway?” I asked. “Not literally! But yes, in a way,” she explained.

Our train stopped at one station but while many people went out, more people came in. It was more crowded and cramped than before. I got pushed further away from Ailee by the masses of people and at one point, I think I collided against someone’s chest. I mean-- … a female.

“Sorry!!” I quickly apologized and tried to find my way away from the woman. I could hear someone chuckled next to me and when I turned to that person, I flew into Heaven—not literally. “You’re that girl we met this morning, aren’t you? Are you okay?” he asked but for some reason, he kept on chuckling. I noticed that he had slightly tanned skin. Wait a minute… he was one of the guys that I met this morning! Probably that Suho’s guy friend! Wait—I’m not sure either. Was he one of his friends or am I wrong?

“O-Oh… Hi! Yes—I think. And of course, I’m okay,” I answered. He chuckled again and whispered in my ear, “Well, you’re lucky that you crashed against something soft…”

Soft? … Omo.. “Are you a pervert?” I questioned him. He shrugged. “I just like some dirty jokes,” he laughed. Right…

After about a good 15 minutes, I was finally able to find Ailee. But then, I got separated from that man just now. Too bad, talking to him was kind of entertaining.

Both me and Ailee got out of the subway when we arrived at our stop. The guy and his friends(if he came with any) were nowhere to be seen. I should’ve asked for his name.

“Where were you? Are you okay? Did you get squished?” Ailee asked, concerned. “O-Oh yeah… By the way.. you know that guy called Suho? The one we met this morning? Do you know the name of his other friends?”

“Other friends? … Hm… I think besides him, we only know the Kai and Sehun guy. Since they’re both in our grade. The others are in our school as well but only those two are in our grade,” she told me.

Wait… they are in our grade? Two of them? “Eh?! They are?” I exclaimed. She only laughed at me and poked my nose. “Your fault for daydreaming! Kai was the tanned kid and Sehun was the kid with a pair of sort of sharp eyes.”

Tanned? Was the person who I talked to Kai just now? Or maybe  was it jst some random stranger? Well, whoever he is, he sure is good-looking and very entertaining.

I sat on the sofa with Taeyeon umma next to me and watched the channel being continuously changed. “Taeyeon-ah, can you decide on a channel already?” Tiffany umma whined.

Taeyeon umma pouted and nodded. She changed the channel one last time and put down the remote control. “Eh!? Why watch a horror movie?” Tiffany umma exclaimed. Taeyeon umma only laughed and told her, “You said to decide on a channel.”

“Jagiya~” Tiffany umma whined. I only rolled my eyes as I watched them playfully and lovingly bicker with each other. Don’t ask me how.

“Fine, fine, I’ll change the channel!... Anyway, Jieun-ah, how was school? How was using the subway?” Taeyeon umma asked. “I don’t want to use the subway ever again. It’s so crowded…” I complained. Both of them only laughed.

“What about school?” I thought at first. School… how was it?

“It was fine… Do you know 12 new students transferred—well at least I think they transferred—to our school? Two of them are in the same grade as us!” Tiffany umma chuckled, “Well, be good friends with them, okay?”

“Of course I will!”

The next day… in school.  “Jieun, Jieun! Stop daydreaming, can you?” I heard Ailee say.

I snapped out of my daydream when I saw a hand waving itself in front of my face. At first I thought it was Ailee’s hand… but.. this hand looks slightly bigger… and.. slightly more tanned compared to Ailee’s fair hand.

I looked up at the owner of the hand… only to find the fun pervert I met yesterday staring at me. “Ah! You’re finally back to reality!” he laughed. Ailee laughed as well and thanked him for ‘bringing me back to reality.’

“Y-You’re..” I stuttered, my sentence was still incomplete. “Hey, introduce yourself. She was daydreaming when you guys introduced yourselves yesterday,” Ailee told him. The guy laughed again and nodded.

“I’m Kai! And I’m that pervert from yesterday~!” he introduced himself, smiling widely.

For a moment there, I felt an arrow shot through my heart. Cupid’s arrow. Wait, that’s a exaggeration. It felt more like a new feeling gave birth to itself inside me.

Actually, I’m not sure either. But one thing that I know is that whatever I’m feeling now is new. I mean, really new.
