He stares at them laughing and conversing as he traces the rim of the cup in front of him. If it is any other day, he will surely be leaning close to her, wrapping an arm around her or just holding her hand, but he somehow wants to distance himself.
"Don't hide in your house with Jimin hyung. You need sunlight. You look too pale now." Jungkook commented and all Dahyun can do is to chuckle.
They haven't told Jungkook about her condition yet, saying that it's just some kind of infection whenever Dahyun is reduced to a coughing mess. Dahyun doesn't want to bother more people that's why she asked Jimin to keep it between them.
Would it be easier if I'm out of the picture?
When they only have each other through it all?Would it be better if I'm gone?
Maybe he will love her eventually. And she will live.
"I need to get something from the car. I'll excuse myself for a while." He stood up and Dahyun looks at him with a frown.
"Don't give me that look babe. Be right back." He planted a kiss on her forehead before leaving the café.
He looks at his car parked near the café but went to the opposite direction.
On the other hand, Dahyun who had noticed her boyfriend's weird behavior since that morning felt that he's up to something. She remained queasy on her seat and Jungkook caught her nervous behaviour.
"What's wrong?" Jungkook asked, pulling her out of her trance.
"Can we go after Jimin? Something is off with him. I'm getting really anxious right now." Dahyun looks at him with worry filled eyes. Jungkook eyes her skeptically but nodded nonetheless.
As expected, Jimin is not in their car when they reached the parking lot. Dahyun knows that she should not panick because Jimin might be just roaming somewhere else or maybe buying something in the nearby stores. But her gut feel tells her that something is wrong and she can't help but feel a shiver run down her spine at the thought of unknown.
"We gotta find him Kook." She looked at him with pleading eyes.
"What's happening Dahyun?" Jungkook asks, dumbfounded.
She helplessly shakes her head and shrug. The summer air is humid but it can't justify the cold sweat running down her face. She wasted no time and jog around the area, whipping her head at every direction, desperate to catch sight of the man holding her heart.
She began to feel her lungs constricting, her illness preventing her from doing strenuous activities, but she disregard the tight feeling in her chest and kept running, Jungkook in tow.
She felt helpless, for an unknown reason. It feels like every second passing with the man out of her sight drifts the two of them apart.
Everything happens in a blur. Next thing she knew is that she's running like her life depends on it. She can hear Jungkook shouting his hyung's name from behind. However, Jimin acts like he didn't hear anything.
He's crossing a road intersection with the streetlights for pedestrians still blaring red. He's walking too slow, too slow for his own life with a face free from any emotion, almost like life had left his body long time ago.
Dahyun's feet are on their fastest capacity but the wheels of the car approaching is definitely faster. She wanted to cry, desperateness and helplessness filling her system, not to mention the pang in her chest rendering her breathless.
Just a few feet away. You'll make it. Just a few.. and a sharp pain in her chest and a burning sensation in her throat knocked her down.
She collapsed on the ground.
