Nico's POV
I glided around my room, packing and crying. My tears fell onto the cardboard boxes as I taped them shut and stacked them. Yesterday had been by far the worst day of my life.
My mother and sister....well... I can't talk about what happened yet. In only a matter of days, I had lost everything I love.
Now, I have to move away from Italy to live in a big house in Los Angeles, United States with my Dad, my stepmother Persephone, and my half sister Hazel. They are all nice, especially Hazel. A year after I was born my Dad and my Mom got a divorce. My Dad then moved away to America and met a Hazel's mom. Those two didn't work out, though so he took Hazel away to Los Angeles. Now my dad is happily married to Persephone. It sounds ok to a normal person, but not to me. It won't be the same.
I taped the last box shut and banged my head on the wall, more tears leaking out of my eyes. After staying in that position for 10 minutes, there was a knock on the door.
Trying to hide the large bruise on my head, I opened it. In front of me stood a skeletal looking man. He had pale skin and was VERY bony. He wore a tuxedo over his body and had a little bit of white fuzz on his head, "Hello, I am Jules-Albert, your chauffer. I will be assisting you on your journey to America. Please put your luggage in the vehicle." He said in a French accent, pointing to a limo.
I nodded and quickly ran inside. I quickly changed my clothes into a black Panic! At The Disco t-shirt, a leather jacket, and as tight as possible, ripped and black skinny jeans. I put on black converse high tops over black socks and put on a black skull ring on my middle finger. I even put in my black lip ring and black earring. I really like black. I quickly comb my black hair and put makeup over the bruise. Then, I haul all the bags into the limo wearing a black cross body bag (it's actually a purse I got from the women's section but I refuse to call it a purse)
Jules-Albert stared at me, "You are definitely your father's son." he said, then began to drive. The entire way to the airport I played a phone game called Mythomagic. It is actually a card game, but I didn't want to risk losing them so I settled with the app.
We arrived at the airport after 30 minutes and Jules-Albert had to drag me onto the plane. When on the plane, I hid my face in my hands and cried, shaking. I had an awful phobia of planes. I continued doing that for an hour until I fell asleep for the remaining 12.
Jules-Albert woke me up after the plane had landed and led me outside to another limo. Where do all of these limos come from? I sat in it and wiped my face, it being wet from tears from both the plane ride and grief.
I made sure I looked decent, fixing my black hair and recovering the bruise on my forehead and the scars on my wrists with makeup.
I had just finished when Jules pulled up to a giant house. I gasped, "Oh mio Dio, CHE CASA È GIGANTE!" I shrieked in Italian. I always tried to keep from speaking it when I wasn't around other Italians, even though it was my first language and the language I was most comfortable with.
Jules-albert opened my car door and I got out, "ANCHE ODORE ODORE! Cazzo, come ha fatto anche papà a gestirlo? È da pazzi! Vivere qui potrebbe essere così brutto!" Jules stared at me wide eyed while I ran into the house, tying my jacket around my waist.
My father was standing at the doorway, grinning. His black hair covered his chocolate brown eyes and deathly pale forehead. He was tall and VERY strong, "Hello, son." he pulled me into a hug. "Ciao, I-I mean hello. Sorry I..." I bit my lip and hugged him back.
"Don't be sorry son. Do you remember where your room is?" I nod and start walking to it, "Wait! Don't you want to see Persephone and Hazel? They've been really excited to see you. " I stopped and turned around, slowly nodding.
He grinned and pulled me to the kitchen where Persephone and Hazel were. Persephone was a gorgeous woman, with brown hair pulled into a messy bun and beautiful brown eyes. She wore a knee length light blue dress, the back made of lace until it reached her very lower back and it was complimented with matching light blue pumps. Hazel looked much different. She had dark brown skin and golden eyes. She had beautiful frizzy, brown hair. She wore a dark purple t-shirt and black leggings. They all looked like models, which did not help my self esteem.
Hazel tackled me in a hug and I giggled. I couldn't help it and clamped my hand over my mouth at the disgusting noise. Then Hazel decided to be a asshole and started tickling me. I started giggling uncontrollably, hardly able to breathe.
I was a LOT skinnier than her, so dad had to help pull her off. Whilst tickling me she had managed to rub off my makeup and I hid all my scars and bruises quickly. It was too late though.
My dad grabbed my arm and stared at the perfectly-in-a-row scars. All were obviously self inflicted. I refused to look at him, "Nico.... " My father whispered. His happy mood had vanished mid air. Hazel and Persephone crowded around to look, too, like I was a museum exhibit.
I yanked myself away from them, "It's just cat scratches. Nothing else." My father looked like he was going to say something but, thankfully, Hazel sensed my discomfort. "We should catch up" she said quickly, dragging us all to the couch.
"Catching up" meant we all just stared at each other awkwardly, until I fell asleep. I wish I hadn't.
My nightmares were more vivid than usual. I wouldn't be surprised if I was screaming my head off, they were bad.
Just like my life.
