Becky screamed, clinging to Jason as if her life depended on it. The others muttered, their voices panicked like hers. Torchlight suddenly parted the darkness, Rob moving to each of them reassuring them."Never thought this cheap thing would ever be useful," he told her, showing his keychain.
"There's a few torches under the sink, and get us any knives from the drawers" Jason chipped in, he seemed so calm under such stress.
Rob rummaged around for a few minutes, emerging from the darkness and brandishing a couple of torches.
"There's no knives here... they're gone, what do we do now?" he asked, waving his torchlight around for answers.
"We can either huddle up here, or see if the fuses blew, either is dangerous though... could be a trap," Tommy told them, taking a torch from Rob.
"I don't want to die," Becky said, unable to stop herself.
Jason stroked her hair, calming her hysteria. "I think we should get the lights back on, I noticed the fuse box in the bathroom last night," he said confidently, the torchlight made him look heroic she thought.
"If this murderer plans on getting us, it'll be easier for him with all this darkness," Tommy said, shining his torch into the hallway.
Becky started to shake, fear taking hold and rooting her feet to the ground.
"Han, you and Jason come with me... Rob, look after the girls" Tommy told them, his commands obeyed as they were gripped with fear and grief.
Tommy, Jason and Hannah left the living area, the fuse board being in the main bathroom at the far end of the house. For a time there was only Rob's torchlight, then Becky heard footsteps, loud and getting louder.
