When I awake, I find Lindsey and Hannah doing their makeup in a large mirror that is hung above her desk.
"Good evening sleeping beauty!" Lindsey laughs when she spots me sitting up in the mirror. She turns around and rushes over to me. "I know you're going to say no but please come to the party tonight. I really want us to be friends." She smiles at me before throwing out, "Oliver will be there!"
I raise my eyebrow at her questionably. "And?"
"And I saw the way you looked at him yesterday when you walked in. You think he's hot, don't you?" She is giggling away clearly amused with this revelation she thinks she picked up on.
"Lindsey," I laugh, "I didn't look at him like that because he's hot, I looked at him like that because I didn't expect to see him again."
"Again?" Hannah chimes in bitterly.
"Yeah. My clothes fell and got soaking wet when I went to shower yesterday, and he helped me out." My cheeks flush at the thought of our first encounter, he was so kind to me.
"No freaking way! He told us about you before you came in, he thought you were so beautiful!"
I can feel Hannah's glare but ignore it.
"Now that I think about it, that is so weird. Why would he act like he didn't know you when you came in? I swear it sounded like love at first sight for him, that boy does not use the word beautiful to describe anything especially not a girl. Hot, sexy, fuckable? Yes. But beautiful? I didn't even know that word existed in his vocabulary!"
"Okay I think she gets it!" Hannah shouts before snagging her purse off Lindsey's bed. "Can we go now?"
"Yeah. Please come with us Addy, you could have a lot of fun. Promise not to pressure you to drink or do anything else." The pleading look in her hazel eyes is breaking me down, but I am still hesitant to agree.
"She's obviously a fucking prude, just drop it Linds." Hannah shoots me a scowl, warning me not to agree.
"Alright fine. Just let me change out of Oliver's shirt, it's definitely not party attire." I strip the shirt off and toss it on my bed before digging out a white and burnt yellow striped shirt out of my drawer.
"Yay!" Lindsey cheers as she crashes her lips into my cheek. "You won't regret this, I promise!"
"I know." I laugh. "This isn't my first party just my first in a long time. I do know how to cut loose, I'm just a little more cautious about doing it."
"Alright well let's go!" Lindsey starts dragging me out of the dorm room before I even put my shoes on, so I swipe them off the floor to pull on later.
Lindsey finally lets me stop to put my shoes on as we prepare to exit the door. I can see the excitement radiating off of her plus she keeps repeating, "Oh my god, I'm so excited."
Before long Lindsey is pulling up to the front of a large frat house. "We're here!" she shouts as she jumps out of her small white Toyota Corolla.
I follow her lead, stepping out of the back seat and onto the curb I swallow my nerves. Stay on your toes and trust no one, my subconscious reminds me. I'm snapped out of my own pep talk when Hannah slams her door and marches into the large house leaving Lindsey and I alone.
"Let's go!" Lindsey loops her arm with mine before walking up the long path to the house. "Ignore Hannah, she's just jealous."
"Of what exactly?" I snort. She wouldn't be jealous if she knew all my secrets, nobody would be. Who would ever want to be me?
