Here We Go Again (Tokka)

I stepped into the room, voices and laughter filling my ears. I was at Aang's surprise birthday party. Yeah, Katara goes all out every year, last time she hired a platypus bear that juggled while playing the harmonica and riding a unicycle. It didn't turn out so well, he ended up eating the whole buffet... But everyone had a good time anyway.

This year, Katara said she was going to stay on the sentimental side of Birthdays, and I'm kinda scared.

Not of Katara's sentimental capability, but of seeing her again. It's been years.

My eyes scanned the room, landing on a certain black-haired beauty.

She was clad in a pale green dress that stopped at her ankles, showing the tops of her feet. The dress was cinched at her waist, brought together by a gold, braided belt. The top portion if the dress was sleeveless, and she was carrying a small green cardigan to match. Her hair was combed out, and flowing down her back in soft waves, it grew out over the years, she included a gold headband, only letting her soft bangs over her eyes. She wore small pearl earrings, the only jewelry she allows, and by the redness of her cheeks, a small amount of makeup.

After staring at her for a good five minutes, I started to make my way over to her. Stopping only a few choice times to say hello to some old friends.

As I approached, I saw that she was with my sister and Ty Lee. They seemed to be laughing at something.

"Ha! Remember when Sokka- oh! Speak of the devil." Katara said.

"Sokka!" Ty Lee catapulted to me, practically tackling me to the ground.

"Hey, Ty." I smiled.

I then looked at the girl next to me, my heart racing.

"Hi, Toph."

"Hey, Snoozles." She grinned.

"How've you been? You look great."

"Um, thanks. You do too?" She giggled.

Wait. Toph never giggles.

"I've been good. My Earthbending school has gone through the roof."

"That's great!"

"So, what about you?"

"We'll, I've been in between with my dad at the South Pole and Aang and Zuko building the city and all."

"Oh, yeah! How's that going?"

"Good, we have most of the architectural plans done, and some of the council plans are getting there."

"Cool." She smiled.

We kept aimlessly talking all through dinner and when Aang got his cake (chocolate with vanilla frosting).

After dinner, Toph and I walked into the back garden of Aang's house.

The sun was just setting, a gentle breeze, songbirds chirping, setting a romantic feel.

We strolled toward the koi pond in the back corner, siting on the rocks at the water's edge.

The wind blew, making Toph shiver.

"Oh are you cold?" I took off my jacket, resting it on her shoulders.

"No, not... okay." She softly smiled.

The wind blew her hair back away from her face, Toph quickly turning her head away, but I had already saw her reddening cheeks.

"Toph?" I asked.

"Hm?" She looked at me.

"I- I missed you over the past few years."

"I missed you too." She answered.

"No, I didn't mean that I missed you as friends. I missed you as more-than-friends." Her eyes widened.

"Sokka, I-"

"Just, hear me out." I turned to her, taking her hand.

"Toph, I know what you're going to say, that 'we've tried this once before and see what happened, what do you thinks gonna happen this time' or 'what happened with Suki'. But the truth is, that, Suki and I broke up a long time ago, and I've always wanted to call you or send you a letter to see how you're doing, but, I've always stopped myself. I guess the way we ended things wasn't the best and I've always though that you hated me."

"Sokka," she interjected. "I've never hated you."

I looked up.

"I mean, sure, I was mad and frustrated for awhile and yeah, it did affect my job. So, like I usually do, I sucked it all in and got on with my life. But I guess there was always this little part of me that wanted us to get back together, I don't know. I know, it sounds crazy, huh?"

"No, not at all Toph. For the last five years I've wanted to get back together. Every time I saw you in the city, or at Aang's parties, or when I came into town, I've always wanted to tell you how I felt."

"Why didn't you?" She asked, tugging at the sleeves of my jacket.

"Because I was scared, worried that you would reject me or laugh or something. I just don't think I could handle that. At least not from a girl that I love." My checks reddened.

She turned to me.

"You love me?"

"I do, with all my heart, Toph." I took her hands.

"I love you too, Snoozles." She smiled.

My smile widened. I leaned forward, cupping her face in my hands.

"I love you Toph." I said before smashing my lips against hers.

It's done! I know I said last week that I would do Tokka, so the topic wasn't that surprising.

But when I was coming up with the plot for this one shot, I actually came up with the title first, and came to the conclusion that this is set at 6 years after the war ended. I know that it probably took longer for some of the events to happen, like the council or city plans, but I felt like it fit into the story.

Anyway, my inbox is wide open, mourning for requests, so don't be shy!

If you need the format, all I need to know is:

Characters

Setting

Plot

***

Anyway, I was thinking that if you don't want to specifically request something, you can just comment or send me a ship or character name you would like me to write about.

Examples: Tokka, Kainora, Suki and Sokka, Kataang, etc.

Okay, well, see you next week!
