"So San Diego, do you know any cool places here?" Olivia glanced around as Billie grabbed her hand. "Nope! Let's find some." Billie smiled, eyeing a store nearby. "Can we stop by a restaurant maybe? The last thing I saw you eat was a popsicle." Olivia uncomfortably laughed, hoping to convince Billie.
"Nah I'm good, I forget to eat sometimes but I'll just wait till I get hungry." Billie shrugged. Olivia frowned and eyed Billie while she dragged her to a 99 cent store nearby.
"Duuude they sell plastic babies here? Sweet!" Billie grabbed two packs and threw them into her basket. Her stomach growled but she pretended to ignore it. "Billie. You should eat." Olivia said forcefully, "I'm ok, I'll just eat something when we get back. But look they're selling burrito holders!" Billie replied, distracting her.
Olivia played it off and cracked a few jokes about the strange object, then turned around and looked for some food. Maybe if I find something here and give it to her then she'll eat? She can't just starve herself this whole tour. She thought to herself.
She picked up a pack of rip off takis, some jolly ranchers, and two bottles of water. Meanwhile Billie got plastic babies, a notebook, some markers and a mini piano for kids.
They walked out the store and chatted on their way back to the hotel. Billie's breaths seemed a bit more short and more loud, as if she just ran a marathon but she was just taking a small walk. She started to wheeze but pretended to not notice. Olivia turned around and stepped in her way. "Billie, come sit on this bench with me." She offered, "no...I'm good...it's just asthma" Billie replied.
Olivia furrowed her brows and picked Billie up, running back to the bench and putting her down to sit. "Damn" Billie replied out of shock, pulling an inhaler out of her pocket and taking a huff. "Ok we can go now, I'm good just a little tired." She looked at Olivia with wide eyes as if she was overprotective.
Olivia sighed, "Can't we just sit here and eat for a bit? I got some really janky takis!" Billie laughed and gave in. "Fine, but if you pull out some sparkling water I'm out!" She points her finger at Olivia with a comedic threat.
They munch on the plastic-tasting chips and finish their waterbottles before heading inside. Billie lays face down in her bed as soon as they arrive.
"Billie?"
