Blake and Ethan are driving for almost two hours. Blake hasn't woken up yet, but Ethan lets her sleep because she needs it.

Ethan then stops the car, hoping to not wake up Blake. He looks at the adorable little girl sitting on the passenger seat with her head leaning against the window. He can't help but smile brightly and leans forward to kiss her cheek. "I'll be right back." He whispers before opening the drivers door.

They're at a gas station. Ethan has to fill up the car because it almost is empty. He walks around the vehicle and starts filling up the tank. Meanwhile, he looks at Blake who's still asleep.

Blake's stomach growls slightly, she hasn't eaten the whole day. Ethan hears the sound her stomach makes because he has enhanced hearing due to being a vampire. He thinks, 'didn't you eat? Don't worry, I'll get something. Did I eat? Yeah I did. But I'm hungry... Eh, I'll get something for me too.'

When the tank is full he looks at the price, nods and walks inside. The small building is filled with refrigerators and small stands with food on them. At the wall there are also magazines. Ethan takes some chocolate, cookies, four bottles of water, some chips, a comic and some other things to eat and lays it on the counter before saying the number of where he filled up the car.

The man behind the counter looks at him with a suspicious look before nodding and scanning the products. "That will be 8 Dollar and 90 cents."

Ethan gets out his wallet. Helbig gave him some money before they left to fly to A.A. Helbig and Ethan talked about what Ethan is going to do once he has Blake and gave him money to do so. He gets out the money and pays the man behind the counter before picking up the products.

The door bell rings and two men who are dressed in dark blue jeans and both wear a hoodie, walk into the small shop. At first everything seems normal, Ethan turns around to walk away from the counter but then the men both pull out a pistol and point it at Ethan. They don't warn him and directly start shooting at him.

Ethan's eyes widen and he luckily is quickly enough to dodge the first bullet. He ducks and crawls behind a stand. The men from the counter is hiding behind the counter now.

"Ethan Brook. Where are you? Wilson and Matthews say hello." One of the men says while both men are walking around to look for Ethan, who is crawling away the whole time. 'Wilson? But that's the last name of Mary! How...' Ethan thinks by himself and then decides to do something.

Ethan gets up, his eyes turn a dark blue. He smirks and looks at the men. "Hey fools! Here!"

The men look at him and shoot again on which Ethan uses his vampire speed to dodge again. "Mind telling me how she's alive?"

"We in A.A. have remedies for anything." One of the men yells.

Ethan sighs and groans as one bullet hits his stomach. He however doesn't stop and takes a beer bottle before hitting one of the men upside the head, causing the man to fall down and lay unconscious on the floor. Ethan quickly takes the pistol of the unconscious man, causing a bullet to just miss his head.

He gulps and crawls behind a stand again.

"Oh come on, why being such a wuss?"

"How did you find me?" Ethan calls out.

"Simple, tracker."

Ethan facepalms himself. How could he have been so stupid? Once he'll get away from the shop and Blake and him are in safety, he's going to check the whole car.

He gets up and jumps the man from behind. The man slaps him, causing Ethan to fall on the ground. The man points his pistol at Ethan's head.

Ethan gulps and looks at the end of the weapon. Is this going to be the end? Do vampires survive a headshot? What will become of Blake when she finds him dead? What about his family and friends? What will they do when they find out he's dead? Ethan gulps, small sweat pearls are forming on his forehead and his heart is beating faster. He's trying to think how he gets away of this. Moving is no option, the man will pull the trigger instantly. So what to do?

Ethan then smirks and his eyes turn silver, "put the weapon down."

The man doesn't react at first.

"I said put the weapon down."

The man nods and surprisingly does so.

Ethan gets up and his eyes turn his normal ocean blue again. He quickly picks up the groceries before running out before hearing a shot and feeling a pain in his back. He grunts out of pain and stumbles to the car. He tries to open the door but Blake did it for him instead.

Ethan sits at the drivers seat after throwing the groceries on the backseat.

"What happened!?" Blake asks in stress and yelps as the man aims and shoots at her window but luckily the cars of A.A. have bullet proof windows.

Ethan groans over and over again, his breath increasing faster but he however doesn't give up and drives away from the gas station.

"Ethan!" Blake yells once again. "Stop the car! You're not ok!" She clearly seems worried about him.

Ethan stops the car as she says and leans back. His stomach and back are hurting and it's hard to breathe. "Blake, you have to help."

"How? What do I have to do!?"

"Try and take the bullets out. Please. I'll heal on my own once they're out."

Blake hesitates bit realizes it's not the time to argue and she bites her bottom lip softly. She leans over to him and cringes a bit as her fingers literally go into his warm body.

"A bit up." Ethan groans, now biting his lip hard. He lets out a small grunt of pain as Blake finally gets the bullet out. "Now my back."

Blake nods and gently makes him lean on the steering wheel before searching for the bullet and finally finding it. She takes it out and looks at her bloody hand. "Ew..."

Ethan leans back again and takes some deep breaths before chuckling softly and handing her a tissue. She uses it to clean her hands a bit. Ethan slowly turns his head towards her, "thank you."

She nods, "don't get shot again please."

"I'll try." Ethan replies. His body starts to heal fastly. The wounds are closing rapidly causing him to not bleed anymore. "Tracker..." He mumbles.

"Is that how they found us?" Blake asks.

Ethan nods, "yes. Any idea where it is?"

"Maybe..." She starts and then looks under her seat. "Nope, not here."

They search for a while, not finding anything. Ethan then gets out of the car. He crouches down and looks under the vehicle where a tracker device is attached while a small light is flickering. He rips it off, not breaking anything else and then gets up. Ethan throws the tracker device on the ground and steps on it with all his strength, causing the light to go out and the device to break in many pieces.

After a short while, Ethan and Blake are driving again. Blake is happily eating the food Ethan brought with him as she looks out of the window. She smiles at the view and looks amazed at it with wide eyes.

"Welcome to San Francisco." Ethan says while they pass a sign saying 'San Francisco'.

They drive for a short while before arriving in a street with nice neat houses, trees along the sidewalk and children playing in a front yard.

Ethan smiles, finally feeling safe, feeling at home. He feels happy.

The car stops in front of a white house with the American flag hanging on the side. A woman with brown hair and worried blue eyes is standing infront of the window, it looks like she cried. A man with dark brown hair and blue eyes walks up to her and they hug.

Ethan sighs as he sees the two being sad. "Come on Blake, time to say my parents hello."

After they both get out, Ethan rings the door bell and after a few seconds the woman from the window opens the wooden black door. She stares and gasps at Ethan, slapping a hand before her mouth. "My boy..." She whispers, still not able to believe her son came back.

"Ethan?" A girly voice says. His sister's voice. She smiles brightly as she sees him.

Ethan's mother embraces him into a hug tightly and cries from happiness before pulling Blake into the hug as well. After a few seconds the whole family hugs each other. Finally reunited after more than a year.
