Oh, look! A bungalow! I sped past it, that was too obvious. I needed to hurry, before they caught me...
I passed a tree with a sparrow fledgling. My gait was set at more than I could handle. I felt as though I had been revived, but terrible to be chased.
The wound that a savage had slit in my companion's leg had healed... Mostly. I was grateful he didn't have to scuttle anymore...
It was a terrible amount of work. I still wonder though, did he know it was me? Was he still strong enough to run like this?
"You were very valiant!" he complimented me.
"It was nothing, now hurry! We might need to hide!" I replied.
"Pff! I refuse to cower!" he said like an arrogant fool, which at the moment he was.
I impatiently said, "If you'd rather kill yourself, please do face them with one sword!"
That shut him up. He still gave me an arrogant look as though he was holding his tongue. Huh, looks like I outsmarted him. Oh wait, right, we are running for our lives.
I nearly forgot at the pleasure of being right. Nothing else brought consolation except for the fact that we were nearly at the river. Our ride was waiting. We'd better hurry though, these maniacs were catching up.
"You think we could stop them?" he asked.
"Oh yeah, go ahead! Introduce yourself and I will and we'll ask politely, Hey, would you mind becoming 100 times weaker so we can ULTIMATELY DESTROY you in a battle? Please? GREAT idea!" I said with NO sarcasm AT ALL.
He rolled his eyes. "I'm just trying to help. It was a suggestion."
Was he serious? I quickly glanced at him. I guess so!
"Well what would be helpful is if we could arrive at the jet boat and speed out of here!" I half shouted.
He nodded and tried to speed up. Being the competitive idiot I am, I ran faster too. We were reaching the end of the forest. A vivid memory flashed in my head of a time when this used to be a wondrous green forest where the animals could roam without fear of hunters.
I shook my head to get rid of it since we had arrived. I hopped onto the boat, as did he. I could feel the piercing pain as I shoved the foot throttle. It was like driving a car, except you had less balance.
I looked back at our followers. Turned out they were just savages after all. Sometimes, I just couldn't help but feel bad for them since I know it's not their fault that they are savage. Well, I guess we will just find out where our quest will take us now.
I stuck out my tongue and made a face with my eyes and nose crinkled and then my companion started laughing while trying to get the boat to work.
I smacked him rather hard and then sat down with the waist seatbelt on.
I looked at where we were headed and we were headed right towards the bank across from the one we were just on.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TURN RIGHT!" I practically shrieked at him.
He nodded and quickly did what I told him to. The turn made my seatbelt feel like a jab to the gut and I nearly threw up the contents of today's breakfast.
Oh no. Of freaking course. Why did he have to do that. To our right was a baby otter. I rushed to the pedal and yanked his foot off of it.
He tripped and fell on top of the life vests while I held onto the steering handle for support.
The poor little otter turned around and tilted its head cutely. I tilted the same way at it smiling. It swam a bit closer to the boat and tapped it with its paw.
"Hi little guy-" I was cut off as the otter grew bigger out of nowhere and started pushing the boat from behind.
I looked to my companion and he was looking at the otter- no whatever that thing was, and his jaw dropped.
I turned back to the creature and I was then and there slapped by a splash of water.
I stumbled backwards a bit and hit my arm on the steering handle.
What is actually happening right now?
