Vifi's POV

I let out a huff as I came out of my building. The air reaked of blood and death. Not surprising, given that we just went through another bloody extermination.
A lot can happen over the years. People forget, some people are forgotten, and people can start giving their souls to the Devil just to get a high of some kind. I've seen many kinds before. Some give theirs for alcohol, some give theirs for drugs, some give theirs for sex, some give theirs up for revenge and some even give theirs for money. I know a certain spider that gave his for all of them.
Angel Dust, I think was his name. I still remember meeting him like it was yesterday. He's not the only one who can make people think your the opposite gender, to put our meeting lightly.
But some lose theirs because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Boy what a rarity those are. Good people down here in Hell ain't exactly a thing. Even I ain't nice. I've been known to do a lot of bad things in my time, many of which......I don't even know if they are true.
Rumors tends to spread like wild fire here. You kill someone? Everyone will know in less than a week. You rape someone? 5 days, tops. Do something to ruin your image? I'd give it a day.
I stepped over another body as I proceeded to my destination. I recognized him as one of the Drug store owners, few days away from closing the place and trying to live peacefully. Poor guy, killed just a few blocks from his store.
I let out a sigh. Death just loves to take things from everyone. Didn't matter if you were an angel walking on earth or a psycho who killed 200 hundred people in 2 days. Soon enough, death would take you too.
I took a turn into an alley. I walked til I had gone as far as I could. I checked behind me before pulling out my wings. I listen to the sound of them unfurling. It sounded like when you stand under a vent that just turned on. The whooshing sound of air was accompanied with the rattle of bones and release of pain.
Keeping my wings in came in handy often but it felt like someone was pushing against your shoulder blades with an iron boot.
I didnt like to keep my wings out as often as I used to. Peer Pressure can be a bitch when it came down to it. It used to not bother me much, but as exterminations began to happen every year, I started to see that what made me different, wasn't a good thing.
I flapped my wings and landed atop the building. I didn't bring my wings in right away this time. Instead I let them be, proceeding to walk across buildings.
I looked around and saw a giant robot, standing stiff in the distance. I recognized it as Sir Pentious' ship. He had moved it obviously during the night. Judging from its position, he was there to claim territory.
Turf wars were a normal thing after extermations. Land becoming available once the mob boss over seeing the area was killed happened a lot, no matter what time of year it was.
I kept walking, making a mental note to stop by later. "Ah, there you are Vifi!" I heard from below me. It was Alastor, more commonly known as the 'Radio Demon'. He and I have known each other since the day he came here. That day, I saved his life and lost my feathers. My wings had taken serious damage and all my feathers fell off. Along with the meat they had on them. Now, my wings were nothing but bone. I never did blamed Alastor for it tho. I helped him become the demon he was today, in all honestly. A lot of what he knows came from me. Never did ask for anything in return either. I pulled in my wings and jumped down from the building, landing on Alastor's right side. "I'm thrilled to see you alive, my dear!" he said, never dropping his smile. Thats something he picked up by himself. He never did like to show emotion. Made him feel weak, according to him. "Nice to see you too, Al." I say in greeting. Alastor gave me an even bigger smile, if it were possible. We continued walking, side by side.
"Heard the princess is gonna be on channel 666 today." I said, letting my eyes wander around a bit. "As did I, I do hope I'll be able to tune in." Alastor said, a hint a true excitement in his voice.
To many others, Al always sounded happy and chipper, but I could tell what he was really feeling most of the time.
I let out a chuckle at his mood. He looked over at me for a moment, before hopping in front of me, so that he could see my face. "Come on darling, why aren't you smiling?" he asked. He's not been one to ask a question like that, but I wasn't surprised when he did ask it. "I'm not a smiler like you are, Al." I say. He just rolled his eyes and returned to his normal walk, with me following behind.
"You used to always smile, my dear, I just don't understand why you stopped." He said. I was worried about the tone in his voice. Worry. Sadness. It all just left me feeling guilty about it.
Not much made me smile now. I mean killing was a given, surprisingly. I loved to just watch blood flow from a wound I inflicted.
"I still smile Al, your just not there when I do." I reply, trying to bring his chipperness back. He was silent for a moment. "Well, at least you're still smiling!" he said, throwing a arm around my shoulder in a small hug.
