God I'm an idiot.
I have to get to Courtney as soon as possible and tell her that I would never cheat on her.
But should I? What if she doesn't want me anymore? Will this affect our work relationship? Will we even be friends?
I need to stop jumping to conclusions and go get my stuff from the restaurant. Then I'll go back to the hotel and talk to her. I sprint back through the glass doors, locking eyes with Kristen as she leaves with a smug look painted on her face. I jog back to where we were sitting, slipping my jacket on, and leaving some money on the table for the food. I shove my wallet into my pocket, running back out, hoping against hope that Courtney would still be in the hotel.

...

I walk into the elevator, ignoring the people staring at me, probably because my clothes are still soaking wet. I press my level, sighing heavily. The elevator travels slowly upwards as I tap my foot impatiently on the floor.
I push my wet hair out of my face as the doors open. I step out, jogging down the hall to Courtney and I's room.
Please let her still be here.
I scan my room key on the door, yanking down on the handle. I rest my eyes upon Courtney who is furiously shoving her clothes into her suitcase. She zips it up, standing up to look at me. "What do you want, Shayne?"
"I want to set the record straight." I say, walking tentatively towards her. "I never want to kiss anyone else but you."
Courtney nods, slow clapping sarcastically. "How fucking romantic. That doesn't change the fact that you kissed some random girl as soon as I left the room."
"That was Kristen. I don't know how she knew we were here, but she kissed me when you left."
She laughed humourlessly. "Oh this just keeps getting better. Now you're bringing your ex into it?"
Before I can answer, someone knocks sharply on the door. I open it, and Kristen is standing there, smirking at me. I nearly slam the door in her face but Courtney runs over to me. "Oh my god. You were telling the truth weren't you?"
Kristen screams at the sight of Courtney, latching onto my arm. "You told me she wouldn't be here!"
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Courtney asks, as I pry my ex girlfriend's hands off me.
Kristen's voice shakes as she shrinks away from her. "Sh-shayne told me that we would be alone." A tear runs down her face.
Courtney nods curtly. "Okay then. Get out, Kristen. Give up your lies, and stop manipulating us. I never want to see you again."
Kristen raises her eyebrows. "I'll leave. But you'll be sorry you stayed with him. Ta-ta, Courtney!" She slips out the door and I close it behind her.
"I'm sorry, Courtney." I gaze at her, holding out my hand for a handshake.
She smiles at me, clasping her hand in mine. "It's okay." She slips her free hand behind my neck, kissing me. She pulls away after a bit. "I forgive you."
I smile at her, and kiss her again.

I can call her mine, and that's the best thing I could ask for.
