First of all it is important to know what I have gone through to come to this conclusion.
Ever since I was, well, probably ever, I have been jumpy when it comes to games or even real life. I have mostly grown out of my jumpy phase however. Learning boxing, Tongsudo, and Dujitsu has definitely helped. But when it comes to Minecraft I can not simply do a roundhouse kick or go for the throat. Instead, I am reduced to spamming the left click and scroll wheel. Many times the misuse of controlability makes me feel almost helpless. Nevertheless I am pretty decent at fighting in the game.
What does this have to do with Herobrine? I honestly have no idea. XD
So yeah, I was told at a young age by Mark, who introduced me to Minecraft, all the horrors of the games and their beasts. The Minecraft song: "Don't Mine At Night" didn't really help either. Before even playing I was terrified of zombies eating my brains and endermen taking me to the End where my Minecraft character would suffer endless torment as endermen endlessly punched me around the End with no hope of escape.. Those were the kinds of things I was told as a young Minecraft noob. And so it wasn't hard for me to see Herobrine as simply one of those lies. A while back me and my brothers would prank our friends by pretending to be Herobrine, so I know how a few good tricks can be pulled off.
