A date

When Matthew woke up, he was greeted by the smell of bacon and eggs. He looked up and saw Katherine, standing in the kitchen, making breakfast. As she saw that he was awake, she smiled and said: „Good morning, sleepyhead!" 

„You didn't have to do that", interrupted Matt and sat up. 

„If you don't like that nickname, I can change..." 

„That's not what", said the theorist and walked up to her, „You didn't have to make breakfast." 

„I know", she responded and gave him a plate, „But since you were unintentionally my host, I wanted to say thank you. And sorry because of what happened last night." 

For a while there was silence, just them eating, until Matthew asked: „So...Are you free today?" She looked up, a confused look on her face. 

She hesitated before answering: „Yes...Why do you ask?" For a moment, Matthew was unsure. Should he really do that? Anyway, he had decided to ask her, he wouldn't give up now. 

„I wanted to ask you out for a date." 

Awkward silence. 

Katherine's eyes widened and surprise was written on her face. Slowly fear began to build up in Matthew's stomach. What if she said no? What if she would hate him now and would never contact him again? Fear turned into despair. But then she finally said these words, that made Matthew feel warmth in his chest: „Nothing would make me happier." 

„Really?" 

„Yes, I will go on a date with you." 

„That's great!", said Matthew and his eyes lit up. 

„Okay, shall we go?" 

„Fine by me, I'll just take a shower and get new clothes. I can't go on a date with you in my pyjamas."

„A karaoke bar? Matt, you know definitely how to set the mood."

The brown haired man smiled and continued to walk with Katherine towards the bar. Before that they've been to a little café, where he had discovered thinks about her he couldn't even imagine. He knew now that she had a tattoo on her arm, which said the word ‚Always'. Her brother, or half brother to be exact, had written it and he had much more tattoos than just one. 

„Do you like music?", he continued the smalltalk. 

„I do like music and sounds. In video games, the sound is very important in order to create an atmosphere. I don't sing that often, but my brother is very good at it. He's a musician and also youtuber", she answered and smiled. 

„By the way", said Matthew as they entered the bar, „I've never asked what your last name is." 

„It's Sharp. My full name is Katherine Lily Sharp." 

Matpat's eyes widened as he heard that name. But before he could ask her about the very well known Youtuber, called ‚Natewantstobattle' on that platform, she yelled: „Nathan!", and ran to a guy with black hair and black eyes. 

A very familiar face to Matthew. 

„Katherine!", yelled the man back and took her into a very forceful hug, „What are you doing here?" 

„You wouldn't believe it you second Freddie Mercury", said Katherine cheerful and glanced over to Matthew, „I have my first date." 

„I didn't know it was your first date", said Matt and walked up to the other youtuber, „Hey Nate."

 „Hey Mat", responded Nate and let go of his half sister, „And I didn't know you date my sister. Have you treated her well?" 

„Nate!", interrupted Katherine them both, „Stop interrogating! Matthew has always been good to me."

„So you really want to sing?", asked Matthew and took another sob of his diet coke. Katherine nodded and arranged her black long hair. Now that Matt knew that she and Nate were relatives, he asked himself how he didn't get the clues before. The two of them looked more than alike. „That's my sister!", said Nate and padded her back, before she stood up in order to get to the karaoke machine. 

„Nate?", asked Matthew unsure and looked at the musician, „Why am I her first date?" 

„She wasn't that popular back in school", said Nathan and looked amused at his sister, who picked a song, „She was bullied and no one did really like her, because she was different and a nerd. When my father and her mother died, she worked so hard, that she didn't even get a chance to go on a date. You're very lucky Matthew."

Matt blushed and looked back at his date, who began to sing.

His eyes widened when he heard her. Never in his whole life did he hear such a beautiful and strong voice. It did remind him a bit of Nate's, but it wasn't the same. He could feel how much feelings and heart she put in that one song. It was like she melted into the song and creating something new. Something that just belonged to her. Matthew heard a giggle next to him and turned around. 

„I wonder why she didn't become a musician", said Nate and a sad smile crossed his face, „She has such a beautiful voice and a natural potential." After he had said that, the song ended and Katherine walked back to them. 

„You were wonderful!", said Matthew and smiled as she blushed like the shy girl in college who just got a compliment from the football captain. 

„Thank you", she murmured and her skin colour in her face became red. 

„Okay, who's next?"

-a few hours of drinking and singing later-

„Thank you Matthew. For everything. You're the reason my newest game did get that much attention and I can do a sequel now. That day was the best one in my whole life!", said Kate as they exited the bar. 

„I had a wonderful day too. What are you gonna do now?"

„Nate is going to drive me to my home. And tomorrow I'll start my work for the next game. If you want to contact me again, please go ahead. I'll love to see you again." 

Before Matthew could respond, he heard how Nate yelled for his sister to get into the car. She hesitated and turned back to Matt. Then she stood up on her toes in order to reach his face and gave him a small kiss on his lips before leaving into the night. A surprised Matthew stood on the same spot for a few minutes, before going home, smiling. Now he had motivation and energy. He would now do the unimaginable and impossible.
